We would skip staying at Aswan completely if we had more time to take the Nile boat cruise for 5 days, but chose 3 days instead, and the Old Cataract hotel was offering ridiculous prices. The hotel comes across as a mass scale budget place for tourist groups, simply built and maintained. Service was ok, a kettle, tea bags, iron... More

This hotel is a peaceful place in otherwise quite stressful Egypt these days. Is situated on the Elephantine island and the hotel has its own ferry that runs every few minutes to the shores in Aswan. We had a Nile view corner room in this hotel and the scenery was absolutely beautiful. The room as well was gorgeous, large, modern... More

I witnessed no trouble in Aswan or Abu Simbel and had a fantastic time- GO!!!!! A really good hotel. Mary, guest relations manager did a great job before I arrived with fast responses to queries, the reception staff also cld not have been more helpful and were all really friendly as were the restaurant and pool staff and masseur. The... More

It was a relief to arrive at this quiet Hotel overlooking the Nile and pretty Kitchener Island after the bustle of Cairo. The Hotel staff were great. When they found that they had no record of my booking with edreams they offered us a lovely corner room with two balconies overlooking the river at the same rate I had been... More

I stayed just a short time at this hotel, but I have to say that it is a great place when visiting Aswan. Location is beautiful, rooms are comfortable and the view is great. When I have the chance to go back to Egypt with more time, for sure I will choose this hotel again.

My husband and I spent 2 nights with 3 days, end of April2012. The hotel is on an island and you go back and forth with a free shuttle boat. The hotel is marvelous. We were upgraded to a suite with a beautiful view of the Nile. The suite was 2 floors, the lower one had a living area, a... More

Well maintained gardens surround a pretty ugly looking hotel. But the advantage of the tower is the view it affords of Kitchener Island and the Aswan corniche, as well as the El-Tabia Mosque, which is attractively lit of an evening. A free boat connects the island to the mainland every 10 minutes. There were very few working cruise boats, and... More

On an island with hotel's own ferryboat (bazzar on mainland two minutes from landing stage). Rooms comfortable but unremarkable -somewhat dated. Luckily did not eat there (locally has poor reputation). Breakfast was very average in what can be best described as a 1960s cafeteria. Service generally good - although they will try to palm you off with worst rooms (see... More
