Cheap and basic but the manager, his welcome and his excellent advice make it a pleasure to stay here. And you're not in 'tourist' Luxor, though the temple is still nearby.

Happy Land is a very clean and friendly hotel catering for backpackers. At these prices you can do a lot worse in Luxor (I should know as I have!).
