We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a 19 night safari. It wasn't long enough to see as much of the Mara as we would have liked but a lovely place to end our Kenyan adventure. Due to travelling in the rainy season we got stuck in the mud for a couple of hours and arrived late.... More

My wife and I enjoyed five very pampered nights at Mara West last month. I was a little concerned what being in a tent would be like, but it was more of a tented chalet than a camping experience - complete with flushing toilet and hot shower. Grace, the admin at Mara West, was so helpful. She got us into... More

I spent one week at the Mara West safari camp in Feburary 2012. I stayed in the "economy tents" but would recommend the mid grade or high end as they have their own bathrooms. It as a beautiful location overlooking the Mara and the staff was exceptional. The food was fabulous with 3-4 course meals at every sitting, don't plan... More

Note we stayed in April 2011. Firstly the long drive (8 hours I think) from the Lake Naivasha area was brutal, the only part of our 21 day safari we really didn't like. The last couple of hours get progressively worse to the point that you can hardly call it a road at all. The drive felt dangerous due to... More

My family (2 adults, 14 year old and 12 year old) stayed at Mara West for 3 nights at the end of December and had a truly amazing experience! We were a bit taken aback at first as it is more of a "camp" setting than a hotel. There were only a few tents occupied as it was just after... More

My husband and I were on our first Safari and our time at Mara West provided the perfect place from which to explore the vast Masai Mara. Our accomadations were top notch (we took a Chalet), so close to the wildlife and the park, spotless and inviting, and the nicest and most helpful staff, including Rose and Alex. The food... More

Mara West camp was our least favorite camp from our recent Kenya trip. After reading the other reviews I can't believe more people don't talk about the horrible roads. Ok, it is Kenya so a lot of the roads weren't great, but the 3.5 kilometers from the main road to the camp was the worst by far. It took about... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review here, we are glad that you enjoyed the food and had a wonderful experience with the staff. I'm sorry about the road, unfortunately its a government road and there's not much Mara West or the Masai Mara Game Park can do about it. The government has however promised... More

Staying at the Mara West really gives you a sense of African adventure while living in tents knowing that wild animals are nearby. We saw a giraffe staring at our tent one morning and lions have been spotted by the staff frequently. The scenery is breathtaking and the luxury tents are cosy, clean and spacious. The electricity goes out at... More

An African Safari has been on my bucket list. This trip far exceeded my expectations and Mara West helped make it that way. I stayed in a mid-range and was surprised that it was still a tent--though with a private bath and shower. However after hearing the zebras munching grass in the night outside my tent and the lions roaring... More

Mara West was such an amazing experience. You'll enjoy the world-class view of the Maasai Mara Reserve where you can relax and let go of the stress of the hectic world...it's no where to be found at Mara West. The high-end accomodations are supurb...the staff will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to... More
