The staff were very very helpful, with personality enough not feel like you were talking to automatons The bar - great view - perfect for the fireworks The room - a little rough (i.e towels and sheets perfectly clean laundered but a bit frayed) but clean and everything you could possibly want on hand Perfect location once you get there... The hotel itself was good, the staff were helpful in helping us find the way there as its location is quite hidden from the main street. It is also not so close to the subway station (about 15 mins walk) but it's within walkable distance to the famous Nanluoguxiang and other attractions. It is a hustle and bustle outside the... More

We stayed at the Beijing Hutong Culture Inn for one night, and overall it was a good place to stay for the amount we paid. We arrived earlier than check-in time, as we took an overnight train from Shanghai. We waited a bit, but they prepared our room even though check-in wasn't for another 3 hours. The staff was pretty... More

So it was a little while since we stayed here,...firstly we couldn't find the place some local girls used the phone and rang them and then walked us to the place while on the phone to the inn and all they wanted in exchange was a photo how sweet! We wished we stayed over in the main hutongs amoungst everything!... More

I got extremely lost on the way as I took the Airport train to Dongzhimen station and decided to walk (bad idea)... Taxi drivers don't know where it is (which I read earlier). I finally got there after someone gave me directions on a bus. Best advice would be to transfer at Dongzhimen and go to Andingmen station and walk... More

Hotel was very good value. It was also very well located not far from the drum tower or forbbiden palace. The only downside is that most taxi drivers won't take you directly to the hotel. The huntong streets are very narrow for cars. The area has lots of character.

A little hard to find but some locals were able to point us in the right direction. The main lady on reception could speak english and french and was very helpful. We had a bedroom with a window, room was ok but walls are pretty thin and being on the bottom floor I could hear the reception phone while trying... More

I booked a room without window right next to the reception area, and it was the start of the nightmare. First of all, as there's no window in the room, the ventilation is poor that makes the room really smelly and wet. Moreover, the wall is apparently too thin that I could hear every single word spoke by the people... More

The Hutong Culture Inn was a cute, out-of-the-way hostel and we found the room to be clean and spacious, overall a good value. We also really enjoyed taking the Mutianyu/Ming Tomb tour from there and there's a nice street of restaurants, shops and bars within walking distance. They're also fairly responsive by email, which I very much appreciated. However, we... More

I liked being in the middle of the hutong area. I think it gave me a nice authentic experience. The neighborhood had some nice cool shops and restaurants and lots of un street vendors. Stop by the tea shop, the parasol shop and cafe Zarah--they were great experiences.
