For a five star hotel, this is quite affordable. Rooms are very spacious. Ask for a view overlooking the Forbidden Palace. Location is excellent with subway, National Museum, Tiananmen Square, and Forbidden Palace all within walking distance. Drawbacks- many people still smoke in Beijing so make sure to ask to change your room if your's smells like smoke.

never expected this sort of luxury in China. Everything was 5 star. Close to everything. Ithought it was modern contrary to some of the other reviews. Shops were frightfully expensive. Food was included with my room so I have no idea whther it was more expensive than others.

This old fashioned 5 star hotel can only be recommended to anyone who wants to relax in the centre of Beijing. Many atractions are in walking distance, the subway is really close as well as a high priced shopping amll with a good food court thiugh, the walking street which is nice, a good selection of all kind of stores,... I didn't actually stay at this hotel but my husband and I were having trouble getting a taxi from the Forbidden City that knew the apartment complex that we were trying to go to. We went into the lobby to ask the concierge if they could help us with translation. The lady said that we would have to go out... More

You can't get a better location to stay in Beijing, as far as being close to Tiananmen Square, or the Forbidden City. The hotel itself is well maintained, and has large rooms. The buffet restaurant was very expensive, we did not eat at it. We also hired a taxi for 8 hours through the hotel with no problems, for a... More

I ate in the restaurant at the Grand Hotel Beijing in Sept 2012.It was a well organised place with a large choice of food. My friend who I travelled to China with will not eat Chinese food, crazy I know and going to China but even she was able to fill her plate several times from it's international buffet. If you have... The Grand Hotel, Beijing was the first stop in an "upmarket" and long-established tour option of a very reputable company from Australia. This turned out to be a "thrifty" choice that fell far short of the advertised standard. Although staff were friendly and check-in was efficient, there was a language barrier which prevented a clear understanding of even the simple... More

So I'm a little late with my review. I actually stayed here in March 2012 while on a study abroad trip with about 20+ classmates. The hotel is in the middle of everything and has alot to offer, from the great Spa to pools many restaurants and the gift shop. While we were there, they were hosting a fashon show... More

I chose this hotel because of the location. On a previous visit I had stayed at the Raffles which is literall next door. make no mistake the Raffles is great from every perspective, but comes at a price. This place shares the great location, but is far cheaper. Yes, by Western Standards it is a little tired, bu the service... More
