My boyfriend and I stayed at the Far East Hotel in Beijing for two nights as part of an organized tour. Unfortunately, we were rather disappointed with our experience there. On our first morning there, we woke up quite early only to find that there was no hot water with which to shower! On our second night there, we asked... More

This hotel is situated in a hutong area in Beijing. It is within walking distance (15 min) of Tian'anmen Square, Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven Park. The rooms are relatively large but the decor needs some redecoration - staff is friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Not the nicest place with stains everywhere (the shower curtain was yellow on the bottom). All I can say is that this place has a very local feel-in the hutong... might be hard to find for taxi drivers who are not familiar with the area. There are many local restaurants around and it's a 15 minute walk to Line 2's... More

This was a terrible hostel, we choose it despite the bad reviews because our friends book it so we wanted to stay with them. Disaster. The spartan rooms in the hostel part are terrible, humidity stains everywhere, back-killer matresses, bad smell, and the toilets I can not even start. The hostel and the hotel are facing each other on each... More

We have been to this hostel/hotel many times over the years. In 2010, it was good. We were shocked when we returned in July 2012 to see how it had changed - for the worse. The front desk staff were rude and didn't care about any complaints that the guests put forth. There was suppose to be Wifi in the... More

Rudest workers ever, and whenever you ask them questions, they always give you a "stop bothering me and go away" look. They said there was wifi, but it would not work in the rooms or lobby. Many other people had complained, and they still refused to do anything about it. Oh, and any pictures you see of the hostel online... More

I spent almost two weeks in this hotel -clean rooms, average location (far from subway, many other best places nearby), but what really shocked me was the REAL DEEP RUDENESS of RECEPTION STAFF (2 in particular). I've been around Asia and China for a while, I'm not expecting "PLEASE and THANK YOU" all the time but these people would better... More

The staff's attitude varies at this hostel that I've stayed at several times. The men who work at reception seem miserable and aren't thrilled with the idea of helping. The woman at the tour desk in the evenings is friendly and helpful, though. I've stayed in the dorms and the triple and double rooms. The triples I've stayed in were... More

Beijing in November is very cold and there was no heating in hotel. the staff just shrugged. The room is OK but the beds are very uncomfortable. The hotel is old and a bit grubby but the room was cleaned each day. There is free internet in the lobby and laundry room is cheap. The location is interesting though a... More
