My friend and i booked from application to get deluxe room for 4 persons, but in reality we got 2 bed in a very tiny bedroom like a dog house, before it, the owner/the woman, man, or young man didnt respon it genuinly, they like to arguing with guests, if you got angry then they more vicious than you. They also charged you more because we were forced to pay 100 HK dollars per night (we booked for 3 nights) and additional 100HK dollars for deposit. They dont provide a towell, toothbrush even a soap. Find another hotel/hostel

This place is so frustrating to get to. Then they slap a fee on top of your booked room. I get the small rooms, very common in HKG but the cleanliness is unacceptable. Bed wasn't too bad, but they were rather dirty too. Air conditioning was terrible by blowing around dirty uncleaned air. Bathroom, yes standard size for HKG, but it also was unclean. If you just want a place to just dump bags, get out and about around Hong Kong, as you are only here in transit, then it's fine. But other than that, no.

Worst hostel ever! Dont even think about of booking here. Its very expensive for a nightmare accomodation, very dirty, broken aircon and worst service ever! The old man is very arrogant, they didnt give the refund that we asked rather give us a small room with dirty bathroom. WORST! Worst! Worst! Too much stress for a vacation! The other guest called the police just to report them and just to get the refund! POLICE? Really????? I hope this hotel be close soon.

We booked a double room with private bathroom (travelling as a couple). Arrived to check in. We paid a 10% service charge. Not uncommon in hostels. We paid. Got to a tiny twin/bunk room with no bathroom that stank of stale cigarettes. Dirty and dark too. We complained. Showed our booking confirmation but to no avail. They wouldn't change the room. They also wouldn't provide a refund. Most frustratingly though, once we'd decided to stay elsewhere, they wouldn't give us our service charge back. Even though we'd been there for 15 mins and weren't staying. We refused to leave without it. The reception team ended up calling the owner who (in fairness to him) upgraded us to the room we'd booked. But it took some serious effort to get what we'd paid for. If all that wasn't bad enough, they kicked us out a day early as the room we'd been given was booked on our last night. So we were left without accommodation. Yes, it's cheap, but go elsewhere. Chungking mansions is rough! "SuperInn" round the corner looked a much better option.

Never book this hostel!! We got the worst experience on this. We have to pay additional for our toilet, or else we have to share with public, The room and linens is nasty. I would understand the room’s little space but their hospitality is just too bad /terrible/ worst. It was my first time to experience this kind of people/owner. They were shouting on their guests. I got so disappointed. They do charge for a cleaning fee too. Very bad service! Neeever again! Do not book this hostel!

I don't know where to begin on how bad the place is. To start off, we did not get the room we booked and the receptionist was trying to put us in a lower room type. He told us that we booked the wrong room type and offered us a paid upgrade to another room. We spent half an hour trying to get the room that we booked but to no avail. Since it was late and we were tired after a long flight we paid the money and went to the room. When we paid the "upgrade fee" we were told that we would get 3 separate beds but instead we got a single bed and a bunk bed. The construction of the bunk bed is questionable at best and we doubt if it would support heavy people. The room is a shoe box with very little space to do anything like unpack our luggage. The bathroom is an even smaller shoe box with the toilet, shower and sink crammed in such a way that you don't have space to turn in the shower (trust me I'm an average built Indian) The bathroom is not cleaned properly, the drinking glass is dirty, the hot water has fixed timings (early morning or late night) to "conserve nature". The reception is in one bock and our room is in another block. To get from one block to another you need to take a couple of elevators for which there is a long line (approx. time from reception to our room was 10 min.). The hostel building is also terrible. Its old and in the event of a fire, expect many fatalities. The ground floor of the building is crammed with shops and cafeterias selling everything from kebab to mobile phones. The downside of this is that many peddlers are bothering you to buy something or eat something (from the looks of the cafeteria, food was probably prepared in the early evening and they will sell you the same food late in the night. The area has some weird smell to it so be prepared. Overall, my recommendation is DO NOT GO THERE.

So if I could give them a zero I would. We had a confirmed booking but we got there the receptionist started to yell at us and cancelled us. Wow, what more can I say. Save you money and go eleswhere as there are lots of little hotels in the Chung King Mansion.

I don't mind staying in small places if I know it will be very small. I was expecting my room to be very small, but not this small. The room was supposed to be 1 bed, it was 2 and both were small. The "larger" of the beds had a mattress that was wider than the frame. The ensuite bathroom was a sink toilet and shower in one cubicle that was 1.5X1.5 meters. Strange to take a shower with the toilet next to you. The hot water situation was ridiculous. I have heard of having to turn on a switch to get hot water. What made it worse is that it was for 5 rooms and it only worked from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM if they remembered to flip on the circuit breaker. If you are like me, and early morning hot shower was out of the question. And if you are out late, you may not get a hot shower either. I have stayed at a better place in Ho Chi Minh City for the same price. My experience here may just end my trips to Hong Kong as it has become too expensive to visit.

Only redeeming feature is the location, and the receptionist who helped me to check in/find the hostel (very polite, speaks perfect English). The hostel is on the other side of Chunking Mansions from the reception. The room stank of stale smoke. Had to pay extra for two people's worth of hot water (75HKD per night). After seeing the room, I warned my partner to come the next day when we would be staying in a different place. No amenities at all, the quilt was paper thin, and the bed was too small for anyone over 6ft. If you want to stay in a hostel in HK, there are many better options.
