Our tour company originally booked us into the Lhasa Hotel for our three night stay in Lhasa. However, after doing some research on the internet including reading the TA reviews, we decided against their choice and opted for a small boutique hotel in the Old Town. Our reservation was cancelled at the last minute by the boutique hotel and we... More

It was very quiet during our stay at the Lhasa Hotel in April 2010, as in, the hotel is very large and there were very few people there. The large restaurants were empty and the staff were sitting in the dark - when we entered, they quickly greated us and turned on the lights...I think they had to round up... More

Let me start by saying that this is the only hotel I stayed at in Lhasa. While it is clear that it does not attain Western standards, I did not experience any of the negative issues described in other reviews. I stayed in two rooms on the fifth floor and they were both more than OK. The staff spoke fluent... More

Awful hotel! The lobby is beautiful and deceiving. The pool is an empty basin, the grounds have nomads camped in them with grazing sheep, the rooms are pitiful with unrepaired water leak stains on the wallpaper, the airconditioning and hair dryer don't work, the carpets are never hoovered. We coudn't order a meal outside main meal times, the tea house... More

This hotel was recommended to us by the tour operator we used for the Lhasa stage of our China trip. It was listed as a 4-star hotel, but after having stayed in many hotels in China I've learnt to knock a star off the rating the hotel claims. So I was expecting to get a hotel that held a reasonable... More

We stayed three nights at the Lhasa Hotel, and I couldn't wait to get out of the place -- it sort of overshadowed our trip to a place we thought would be the highlight of our month-long China/Tibet trip. We were with a tour group and stayed in Building #2. (I understand Building #1 has been renovated.) The carpets were... More
