There are great things and not so great things about the Macan Eco Resort. First, this is the end of the world, stare at the ocean and snorkel with the fishes tropical island experience. Limited internet, limited mobile phone coverage. Limited electricity. It definitely has its charm and really, the snorkeling is great and the little huts are cute. We... More

The bad: if it rains expect to get wet in all except the red brick cabin and the sunset cabin. Consider these as open walled tents rather than cabins, and don't expect privacy. The bamboo hut is in a poor location, without views, and with only a thin wall between you and your neighbors. The reefs are in generally very... More

Dear Craig B, Thanks so much for your review :~) Seeing that you visited us in January, I can understand how you might have been the recipient of some spray through the bamboo blinds... the wind and rain has been good to us, and being now at the close of March, the rainy season is almost at it's end. Nonetheless,... More

Absolutely stunningly beautiful. Great private open air rooms. We stayed at the red brick cabin which has white washed walls with blue accents. Total ocean mood. The small uninhabitable island of the resort is spectacular. It has a white sand beach where you can walk bare foot. A spectacular drop off wall for snorkeling. A beach secluded by mangroves with... I love this place, it's keep me going back. I like the tranquility of the surroundings, it's like in here life-tempo slows down a bit. Quiet, islanderish privacy, unique furniture&decor of each hut, not to mentioned a very lingering open-air bathroom gives you a total priviledge as an islander. My favorite is sunset hut, you could just sit in silent... More

The Eco Resort in Pulau Macan is one amazing place. It is without a question the best weekend alternative for those living in Jakarta. It's hard to imagine that a small paradise like this, it is only two hours away from crowed, polluted, dirty, unpleasant and confusing city of Jakarta. OK, you will not have a lot of privacy, ok,... Pulau Macan might be the perfect weekend getaway. From Jakarta's Ancol Pier, it takes about 90 minutes by comfortable speed boat to reach this miniscule slice of paradise. When you arrive, it's kind of like Gilligan's Island, but with better food and smarter castaways. Rooms at the resort vary in size, amenities, and configuration, but all are comfortable, private, and... More

I would hate to go back there, so I rate it with one star. I take being mistreated very personally. However the place is mostly nice and quite, food is good to excellent and local personel charming and helpful. Nice and quite; relatively - well kept small green island with reef, nice looking bungalows and huts. However: 1) expect no... More

We spent one night and two days at Pulau Macan and didn't want to come home! We live in Jakarta and as Pulau Macan is only about 90 minutes away by speed boat, it is a great place to spend a weekend to get away from the loud and busy City. The staff was great and the island is absolutely... More
