We spent two nights here while arranging a visit in to Way Kambas to look for birds. The staff are extremely friendly and provided invaluable assistance for our visit to the park. The rooms are the nicest we have had in Sumatra and include a warm shower and fan. The food was always a tasty and welcome meal after a... More

We stayed for three nights in the ecolodge and had a wonderful relaxed stay! The rooms are quite basic but the gardens around it make up for a lot. The people do not all speak English, but are very kind and the food is tasty. You can not order from a menu but you can ask for vegetarian, beef or... More

Stayed here for a specific tiger patrol that I organized with the national park itself. This is a pleasant, laid back environment with green lawns and rooms hot water, reliable wifi, simple yet clean. Best though is the extremely friendly staff who go out of their way to help your stay. Food is also consistently good. They can help organize... More

My wife and I spent 3 nights here in March 2013. We were excited to see the rhino sanctuary. The hotel was ok, fairly basic but clean and the staff were friendly. I would say that it was a $30 room. They charged $65. We thought, ok, it will be worth it to go to this amazing rhino sanctuary. Since... More

We wish to respond to four areas in this critique (a) price (b) Rhino Tour (c) our restaurant and (d) our eco credentials. We cannot identify who wrote this report but assume it is a pair called Kim and Chris who stayed at the Satwa 7th – 10th March (a) Room price. The suggested price of US$ 30 is totally... More

We spent three nights in Satwa and we loved it! Of course, it's not the best hotel of Indonesia, but the atmosphere is great. We liked the rooms: spacious and clean. They try to keep all insects out of the room, there was some anti-mosquito thing, but it is smart to bring a mosquito-net. When we stayed in Satwa, it... More

We spent three nights at Satwa over the recent X-mas holiday. The lodge is a comfortable place to be based when exploring Way Kambas. The staff are very friendly and they go out of their way to make you comfortable. Most of them are locals but there are a few Javanese employed at the lodge. The lodge is rustic meaning... More

We were there March 2012. We had some disasters travelling before we got there, were very tired and was looking forward to a unique experience. We were disappointed there was no air/con in the room as it was stinking hot and very humid. The fan did cool us down. The room was big with three single beds. There was a... More

I visited Indonesia last July with some friends. The whole trip was organized through Eco Safari Indonesia, who provided accomodation in 4 different ecolodges, namely Satwa Eco Lodge, in Way Kambas (Sumatra); Rimba, in Tanjung Puting, (Borneo); Udayana Kingfisher Eco lodge, in Bali; and Bajo Komodo Ecolodge, in Labuan Bajo (Flores). The degree of comfort varies among the lodges, but... More
