It is always great to see the work done by other Peace Corps volunteers and Tom Larson, owner of the Arajuno Jungle Lodge, has not only built a sustainable lodge, but is doing incredible work with the local people and flora and fauna. I discovered the lodge based on a recommendation by a neighbor who takes Outward Bound trips to... More

Amazing setting with amazing hosts. The lodging was first rate and Tom really made us feel at home while we were there. His is a truly admirable story of an average guy from small town America to truly making a difference in the depths of the Ecuadorian rainforest. The rooms were cozy and clean and Tom was very accommodating to... More

I have taken a number of groups to Aranjuno Jungle Lodge and had nothing but exceptional experiences everytime. The work that Tom does with yellow spotted turtles and working alongside local communities to reduce dynamite fishing is really incredible, and he always educates people about the work he does and ensures you understand just what a difference you make as... Our stay at the Arajuno Jungle Lodge was extraordinary. The unique rain forest setting on the Rio Arajuno was unworldly. The hosts, Tom and Charo, were wonderful and very generous when sharing their knowledge and expertise on the local flora and fauna. The food at AJL was first rate. More

I came with a youth travel group to this wonderful lodge to do some volunteer work and I was completly blown away by the experience that I had. The rooms we were in were clean and well kept, with an attached bathroom with warm water, a toilet and a light. We had a few bugs, but there were bug nets... More

First of all id like to say that Tom's wife is a amazing cook. Best food i've had on my three month stay in ecuador. However Tom was so rude. Saying he gets enough buisiness without us there. We were a group of 8 and he said he couldn't be bothered to learn our names. He was very patronising to... More

This is a perfect way to experience a true ecological lodge nicely located along the river in the Amazonas jungle. Owner Tom Larson is very open minded and does a great job conserving indigenous wildlife with main focus on turtles. Entire lodge is solar powered. Food experience is very good and makes this lodge absolutely recommendable. Don't forget to book... More

There are so many reasons to pick Arajuno Lodge. -the owner, Tom, is bilingual (Spanish and English) and is friendly and welcoming. -Tom arranged for us to have a bilingual guide for our trip in the rainforest (believe me, this is no easy task but Tom did it with ease) -They could accomodate my diet (Vegan). Plus the food was... More

First off, I have to give the credit to my dad for finding this place. He found it by doing searches online. We flew to Quito, took a 5 hour bus ride to Tena, then got a 40 minute cab ride out to the Arajuno Bridge. Then a man comes by and picks us up in a canoe and carries... More

I loved staying here, and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure! Tom and Charro welcome you with open arms and make you feel right at home ~ and Mona the monkey is an added treat! The accommodations are rustic but quite clean and comfortable. The food is amazing: locally grown, organic, artfully presented and delicious ~... More
