The guide book said it was average accommodations, but my son and I both found it charming and an excellent value. The two courtyards and outside balconies overlooking the river are great spots to relax and read or meet other guests. Clean, friendly, very secure and easy walking distance to many nice attractions. As a solo female traveller, my main concern was safety. This hotel was in a great location and very secure. I felt personally safe and my belongings were also safe while I was out exploring. It is a family-run hotel, and although the mother and daughter could not speak English, the sons spoke English very well and were only a... More

This is a great place stay. I took a tour group there in January and they loved the place. I just sent another tour group there 2 weeks ago. The place is great, the people are very nice, good breakfast overlooking the river and part of Cuenca. The place has rooms all over the place so you might request a... More

I have been fortunate to have found great lodging in Ecuador which includes this very hostal literally a ´house on the cliff.' It offers a great view of Tomebamba River and its beautiful surrounding. The family run hostal is priced reasonably considering what it offers: 4 terraces of great view ; soothing sound of the river´s roar; clean rooms; and... More

Stayed here for 4 days with my husband in February 2012. We had a back room on the second floor which had wonderful views of the river. I agree with the one review, ask for the 2cnd flr, floors are thin and if noise bothers you the top floor is quieter. This place is run owned by an Ecuadorian family,... More

Stayed here for 4 nights in February 2011. Our first night, we stayed in the back room- Lonely Planet says to request them for the "fantastic river views." What it DOESN'T tell you is that the minute your upstairs neighbors come home, you will NEVER SLEEP. There are ultra-thin, ultra-loud floors- it was like giants stomping all night/early morning (and... More

I was staying there for 2 nights with a friend. One of the male staff there was beyond rude and not very pleasant. He works there around noon and he's usually the one that opens the door late at night. He also cleans the rooms and etc. One night we came back to the hostal around 12:30 pm and he... More

The property is in a very good location. The rooms are good, just no insulation so you hear everything. The breakfast is quite poor. Just a roll, coffee and watered down juice. The staff does not speak English so are not too helpful. More

There is almost nothing special about this hotel, except for the best bed we had in Ecuador. It's just a very nice place to stay, on a good location. Might be a bit overpriced. There is free internet (no wifi) available, incluing the use of a printer. More

Booked on hostelbookers for 2 nights in a twin room. On arrival they couldn't find our booking and the room we had booked was no longer available. They gave us a family room with a king bed and 2 singles which was massive and on the ground floor. Room had cable tv and bathroom with hot water. All okay until... More
