This is a great hostel. We stayed before and after our macchu picchu jungle trek. The staff are so friendly and gave us lots of help especially when one of our friends was ill. The only downsides are the location (which is a bit out of town and up a hill - takes it out of you at altitude) and... More

Let me start by saying that the location could have been a 4 or a 5, but I swung towards 4 simply because climbing those stairs after a full day of hiking Machu Picchu was a bit rough. But the views of the city from above were absolutely stunning and made it worth it. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful... More

Great place to stay in Cusco. Staff were brilliant. Views over the city fantastic. So glad that we booked here as opposed to one of the places down the hill in the city. Most hostels in Peru come with street noise for most of the night, due to the pedestrianised streets in St Blas we slept well.

We stayed at Samay Wasi for 1 month while we were working in Cusco. The staff is incredibly friendly and even helped me learn spanish and cook in the kitchen with them. The kitchen is available to use at all times and they provide breakfast that's included with the rooms and have very inexpensive but incredibly delicious juices for very... More

We stayed in two Samsay wasi dorms, a 6 bed and 4 bed during our stay and it was incredibly squished. They fitted too many beds in a tiny room and there was nowhere for our big bags to go. The bathroom of the 6 bed dorm was nice and big but the 4 bed dorm bathroom was pokey and... More

During our trip in Peru, we stayed here a total of 5 nights. I have mixed opinions about this place. We had a chance to stay in both a private matrimonial room (a double bed with private bath) and also a dorm room (with 4 bunk beds and private bath) we were a group of 4 (2 couples) travelling. Positives:... More

We stayed in a private matrimonial room in February 2013. Overall, we were very pleased with the hostel, and would recommend. Pluses: -Free breakfast -Free wi-fi -Free airport pickup -Deliciously hot, strong showers -Secure -Clean -Very typical Peruvian design- wood & stonework -Good San Blas location, right up from the South American Explorers Society -Friendly staff Minuses: -I am a... Great hostel at San Blas area of Cusco (up hill but not impossible to get there, you might chew coca leave first). Fair breakfast and great staff. The city is a great place just to wonder and walk without a specific objective. Don't miss the typical dance show offered when you purchaise teh boleto Turistico.

Cusco: A lovely, if getting slightly hawker-heavy at times, city. Beautiful buildings with lots of places to eat (You have to try Jacks and Los Perros), San Pedro market is fantastic, there's a fantastic chocolate making course at Choco Museo and Cusco is a great base for exploration. Positives About Samay Wasay: + The staff are really friendly and always... More

I stayed at this hostel for the days before and after my Machu Picchu Trek. The women who work there are so sweet and accommodating. They let us leave our things there while we hiked and nothing was stolen. They had a small free breakfast and free tea service, but some of the rooms come with a free bigger breakfast... More
