Didn't know quite what to expect when saw the nondescript front door, but after heading down a short corridor, was welcomed with coca tea in a cosy, bright dining room.
Mercedes and her team are very friendly, helpful and do a good job for the price asked.
Basically, it feels like an extension of her home, which it is!

My room in the Casa was big and had a smaal bathroom with a great shower with always hot water. It is not the most modern hostel in the world but for me it was good enough. I got a little tv with some good english spoken channels.

...well except for the altitude sickness which everyone goes through ;)
The location is not in the city but a cheap 5 min taxi ride gets you there. Don't pay more than 3 soles, you need to negotiate sometimes but its not a hardsell. The taxi drivers are not familiar with the location so make sure you have the address...

Our family stayed for more than a week at Casa de Mama. We had a wonderful experiance. Lovely, clean, large rooms. Privacy, lovely hospitality. Mercedes took care of each and every one of our needs: including laundry, tour advice, etc. [including inviting a doctor for an urgent check-up]. ten minute walk from the center- so pretty near but out of...
