Stayed at amaru2 for 3 nights and had to deal with two nights without hot water in temperatures such as 8 Celsius or around 40 f. On a Saturday afternoon , no one at the front desk because it was a Saturday said someone that works as a cleaner..... I don't mind paying if I get what I paid for... More

The word “Hostel” is really a minomer, since it implies some sort of communal dorm or similar, but the way the word is used in Cuzco really means that it is a bed and breakfast hotel. I stayed in both this month, Amaru 2 for 4 nights and Amaru 1 for 2 nights. (Wish it had been the other way... More

The woman at the front desk was very nice. We had a triple room. Very basic no frills. It was part of a package so I don't know how much this room cost. When we returned from dinner we realized there was no heat and it was COLD!! We rented a heater for 3 US dollars but it took 3... More

I would determine Amaru II as a hotel not hostal. The hotel is quaint, with lots of character in a good condition historic building. They are currently undertaking major renovations to extend their accommodations. This meant a bit of noise during the day. We found the builders to work between 7am - up to 9pm in the night, however at... More

Stayed for 1 night (was planning 4) just this week, end March 2012. The hotel is currently extending its size and there are MAJOR building works going on. They started at 7am, but were finished by 5.30/6pm.The works are major and they are in the initial stages of construction so the noise is massive, as well as there being around... More

We stayed at Amaru II for two nights in December and had a very nice time. For those of you travelling over Christmas and New Years, this is a great spot to stay because the balcony overlooks much of the city, so you will be able to see the amazing fireworks displays across the city on Christmas eve and New... during our journey in cusco we stayed at the Amaru hostal, what we don't regret it, hot shower all day and people at the reception were very friendly, especially the girls; the guy at night was not so friendly but in general we loved it there! breakfast was delicious!! and distance to the plaza de armas was ok! we took... We stayed there 4 nights in this hostal. The staff is friendly and very helpful. We felt like home in this place and it was really delightful. It is located in San Blas, 2 minutes away from plaza san blas The breakfast is made of : tea/coffee, fresh orange juice, bread/butter/jam, fruit salad with yogurt and eggs. It is a... More

Brilliant! A wonderful place to stay. We had one night before the Inka Trail and 4 nights after - we asked to get the same room when we returned as we liked it (and they were happy to do that for us). Baggage storage while we were on the Trail was fine. Very convenient but elevated position so views of... More
