They claim its a 3 start hotel but it dated, dirty and lacks water. Stayed for 2 nights here, payed $60p/n, 20th and 31st Dec. The room has crapets which smell bad, the bathroom was ok sizewise but most of the time, there was no water, the breakfast was terrible. And on the 31st, the hotel staff started playing extremely... I would have to agree with some other reviewers... "Is this the worst hotel in Peru" ? Where does one start ? "24 hour hot water" - we were lucky to get any water out of a tap let alone anything hot, tepid warm was the closest - we've had better in a camp site. "Se we have WiFi Senoire"... More

We recently spent 4 nights in the Hostel Monarca on our trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu. The people at the desk spoke English and were helpful in making calls to the US. We happened to have a room on the street side where cars continually honked at the corner starting early in the morning. No need for an alarm... More

This was the worst hotel in Peru I have have been. There are rooms that are very noisy because drivers like to blow a horn at the corner. There are others without window. I could alomost not breeth in the night. The breakfast was very very poor. They serve a so called "orangejuice" in fact orange sugar water.

Me and my two friends happened upon this hotel during our Spring Break in Cusco. Our room was very nice, on the third floor with a bed for each of us and a private bathroom. There was TV with many channels, towels, and soap. It was nicer than we needed, as we expected to be staying in bunk-bed conditions. Do... More

Hostal Monarca is OK. It's really close to the Plaza de Armas and the staff are helpful and quite friendly. If you ask nicely you can you store your bag there if you're going off trekking or whatever and the breakfast is basic but nice. If you can, ask for one of the rooms on the top floor - the... More

Up until this point in almost 11 months of travel we booked accommodation ourselves by researching on the internet, this time we believed an agent at the airport in Cusco who was selling rooms at different hotels and hostals in Cusco and showed us photos of this one and said it was excellent. We were taken into town in a... More
