Casa Colibri is the ideal location from which to explore Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. The lodge is surrounded by incredible mountain scenary and contains some of the most lush and beautiful gardens anywhere. It's owned and operated by Barbara (who is a delight!) and her husband Robert (who wasn't there during our stay). They purchased the property a... More

Such a gorgeous space...fantastic garden with a pet rabbit running around, lovely cabins that are both simple and perfect and the greatest hosts. Barbara and Robert are friendly, helpful and a pleasure to be around. They arranged a driver for us while we were in the Urubamba area, recommended some great restaurants and helped us to feel very comfortable. Barbara... More

This is a long overdue review. My husband and I spent four wonderful days in the Sacred Valley this summer and stayed at Casa Colibri. It truly is a haven and a refuge in this beautiful valley. The love, care, and hard work that Roberto and Barbara have put into the space is evident. The gardens are beautiful and inviting... More

My mom, aunt and I stayed here after completing the Inca Trail. It was peaceful and relaxing. The gardens are absolutely beautiful! The owners, Robert and Barbara, are wonderful too. We didn't get in until almost midnight, and they still welcomed us with a smile. This was the perfect place to unwind after the Trail.

We just finished a wonderful 6 day stay at Casa Colibri. All I can say is fantastic and relaxing. The lodge is the ideal place to stay that provides a centally located exursiuon point for singles, couples and families to enjoy all the sights, sounds and culinary treasures of the sacred valley. I chose it for this reason and could... More

We loved our stay at Casa Colibri for many reasons: 1. The gardens are gorgeous, filled with hummingbirds and even one very friendly pet rabbit 2. The rooms are large and comfortable 3. The "clubhouse" had a computer with free internet, food, drinks, and was overall a great place to get to know your fellow travelers 4. The two owners... More

This is an example of ecological cell, a green oasis in Urubamba region, teeming with native plants, birds, butterflies and millions of organisms keeping the balance of nature. The owner, Barbara is doing a wonderful job in supporting our planet with her little paradise. The low profile accommodations she called Casitas were built of local materials, simple low profile architecture,... More

We had the pleasure of staying at Casa Colibri as part of our visit to the sacred valley and Machu Picchu. We originally had been slated to stay elsewhere, but the reservations got messed up. Were we ever glad! We enjoyed this beautiful place that Barbara and Robert have created. Because it was the start of the low season, we... More

Polished, smart and new. Combining authentic Peruvian construction and western design simplicity with integrity, Barbara and Robert have set the foundation for a beautiful experience in the Sacred Valley. We stayed at the Casa Colibri Ecolodge with our two young teens - in a fabulous detached villa in a garden of unequalled variety and color. The focus on sustainability and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Casa Colibri eco-Lodge is centrally located just outside Urubamba, close to all the archeological sites in the Sacred Valley. Trains to Machu Picchu are only 20 minutes away. It's at a much lower altitude, (2900 mtrs) than Cuzco, (3400 mtrs) so it's perfect for your acclimatization. The casitas are sited around a large central garden with native trees, winding paths and scented pergolas. The lodge is our project in sustainable living. For us this means doing our best to conserve resources for future generations, avoiding waste and living in harmony with our environment. We have created a series of thriving organic kitchen and flower gardens hosting wildlife from hummingbirds and parrots to bees and butterflies! Special interest groups are more than welcome... Our yoga groups appreciate the purpose-built meditation room and the tranquility of the gardens, and foodies always leave wishing they'd booked a longer stay :)Above all Casa Colibri aims to be a relaxing and homely base, from which to explore all the wonderful sites around the Sacred Valley. ... more   less
