Red hostel is a good choice if your time is limited in Montevideo. It's situated in the centre of the city, in the new town, close to everything in the city. The staff is really nice and helpful, tells you everything you want to know. Dorms are okay, clean and comfortable. I missed some fan so the night was really... More

The hostel is located in the Centro and close to Montevideo's main attractions, but there are a few factors that gives a negative shadow to the hostel. First, the rooms are not clean. We stayed in room 11, which is a 4-bed mixed dorm and the roof was dripping water, and that too directly over an electric socket. We complained... More

Overpriced place. It is a hostel so one can expect that it is not the ambience of a hotel and with many young people it can be noisy. I stayed in a single room, next to a dorm. But I do not expect that it is allowed by the hostel that about 10 persons in this dorm continue to party... More

I stayed at Red Hostel for a couple of nights and I found it quite satisfactory. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was nice and filling - and I also managed to meet a fellow traveller whom I hadn't seen for 2 months and never anticipated to meet again :) The bathrooms could probably use a little spruce but only in... Pay in US dollars if you want to get the best rate. I paid $380UY to stay here which worked out to be well over the advertised price of $16US per night. This is a huge place with a nice terrace. However, the kitchen is on the roof and forget about using the fridge. It's padlocked. The mattresses are like... More

I had two different bookings here, but somehow the first got screwed up. So I changed rooms three times in two nights. Many thanks to both Fernando and Max for sorting everything out. The rooftop terrace is awesome! But the bathrooms could definitely use a complete overhaul. It can sometimes get very loud at night when the music is blasting... More

Don't go here. This hostel allows groups and can't deal with them. They were partying the whole night on the roof terrace. While complaining I couldn't sleep at 2am nothing was done. Besides that they let people of the group sleep in dorms with others and in my girl dorm slept a boy! Showers and toilets are terrible. Beds were... More

Rooms are simple and clean. The hostel is located a few walking meters from the main avenue. Breakfast is delicious, and it includes bread, fruit, dulce de leche, jams, coffee and tea. Bathrooms are spacious and clean. There are a few PCs with free internet. There is also a nice terrace up on the roof where you can buy drinks... More

This hostel was amazing. The dorms were large and spacious, the arquitecture of the building was really interesting, and free internet was definitely a plus. Even though montevideo was really hot while I was here, the rooms were cool thanks to the breeze from the large balcony doors. Go up to the roof during the day to read, and at... More

Building one is as described, it's a really wesome building. Building two sucks: its accessed via the steep wooden narrow access staircase that you cross the roof to get to-- bring a headlight because you need to navigate this at night to get to your room and navigating with my duffel was very hard. There are no lockers, no hot... More
