Checkin took ages cos the receptionist was easy to distract. First room I was shown was so smelly, it did hit me when I entered the room like a fist and I could only breathe through the nose. Seccond room had a very dirty bed full of stains and was made of crudest materials, so you would easily catch a... More

We had just had a week in Buenos Aires in the middle of party central and needed a break from the noise and revellers. We came here on a weekend and found a charming and pleasant atmosphere with a simple but very quiet room (it was sound proof!). The staff were extremely helpful and the common area downstairs was pleasant... More

The previous place we stayed booked us in here- unfortunately. The room was dirty and dingy. There was music blaring at reception and the hostels bar outside blared music and shouting until 3/4am. When I asked about moving I got a cold reception - a truly horrible place to stay - el viajero downtown Montevideo was like a palace in... More

I would recommend this place for people on a shoestring budget. It was clean, hygeinic, but met expectations for a cheap hostel. It was noisy with cramped quarters and the fans in our 4 person room didn't work. Also, during our two night stay one of the bathrooms was on the fritz so it took forever to get a shower.... More

The hostel has an awesome location, the staff is great and I was surprised by the cleaning. There is always someone cleaning! Best regards for everyone there, in special to Francisca!

I don't have much to say about this hostel, but the 85% customer rating on the hi hostel website shouldn't be! We got here just a few hours ago and woke up in the middle of the night with bedbugs crawling all over us and our things. We should've realized that this place was infested when one of our roommates... More

This hostel is ok, but not much more. It doesn¨t feel that clean which is never a good start. There are some good points. It is out of the city which if you want to feel a bit more disconnected then they´ve achieved that. You can walk or take a bus quite cheaply. The lockers thing is a concern, I... More

One of the best hostels i've been to! At the minute i arrived i felt really comfortable there.. the staff is great! They organize EXCELLENT BBQs! Pocitos (the neighborhood where it is) is the safest in Montevideo, so you don't have to worry about getting there late!

Personally, i think this hostel is way down there and there must be better available for the price in Montevideo. NEGATIVES: - Locks on lockers are laughable - little eyelets for you to put a padlock through that can be pulled out by hand. - No hot water in the morning. - Staff coming into our dorm at 2am, slamming...
