You have to go into the hotel knowing that hot water and spacious rooms are not typical Nicaraguan standards. However, it was clean, bug free and the food was great. There is free wifi, TVs in the room and A/C, and you can use the office phone to call the states for a mere 3 cords a minute. They have... More

I have stayed at El Raizon many times and the staff and owners treat me and my family like their family! It is always a great experience- clean rooms, great food and friendly people! A true Nicaraguan delight!

the staff was great, the owner and her adult daughters were so disrespectful to all employees at this hotel it was incredible, especially to kitchen staff.when they were mad at these people they would put them down, make them feel like a nothing,a nobody. the only reason they stay is there is no work and all employees are living in poverty.the... I have been on many Bridges to Community trips to Nicarauga with my temple. In total I have stayed in El Raizon for about 7 nights. We are usually a very large group about 50 to 60 people and we all thought it was a great relief from the field work. We went for the first night and the last... More

El Raizon is a pleasant place to stay. A little mercado is on the property where beer, snacks, and the basics are available. Internet in the lobby. On a way busy four lane highway but seems pretty quiet once you are in the courtyard. Hot showers generally available. Run by nice people who seem genuinely eager to help you out... More

I have stayed at Hotel El Raizon twice, in March and June of 2006. I did some mission/humanitarian work in the nearby community of Piedras Quemadas (the barrio a klick down the road towards Masaya, across from the volcano). The hotel was excellent, in my opinion. Yes, the plumbing is substandard by US perspective, but normal for Nicaragua. At least... More

As previously mentioned, this property is located adjacent to the Bridges to Community office and this is where you are put up when you volunteer for one of their service trips (as I did). Although the hotel is certainly better than the conditions one experiences in the field, the hotel is pretty basic and we experienced some problems, including the... More

El Raizon is on the same site as the Bridges to Community Nicaragua headquarters. Bridges houses most of their volunteers there for at least a night and I stayed there as part of a service trip. I thought it was a good, clean, quiet place to stay. Its not really in an ideal location for siteseeing by foot so I... More
