During graduation weekend, the local hotels were full and I searched for other options. A B&B list came up, and based on the breakfast reviews (rather critical for me...), I selected the Amherst Inn. The beds were very comfortable - slept really well. The room was clean, the towels very soft, the breakfast was very good, hot and the coffee... More

My husband and I stayed for three nights at the end of March. Our room (Napoleon's Room) on the second floor was spacious and comfortable and looked out on a quiet side yard. The private bathroom was tiny but modern and scrupulously clean, as was the whole house. Breakfasts in the cheery dining room were buffet style with fresh fruit... More

I've stayed here twice, and both times had a lovely experience. Exquisitely beautiful rooms, fantastically comfortable bed, a great shower (amazing, considering the age of the house), and a real feeling of timeless peace and comfort. Every little detail is carefully chosen and perfect, and the hostess is very friendly and considerate. I would definitely stay here again! More

The inn is charming, and certainly conveys the nineteenth-century period. One drawback, however, is the dust. Many surfaces, bathroom shelves, blinds, and, I'm afraid, the piles of puffy bedding, were thick with it. Two fans provided circulation, but the fact that storm windows were still in place on all but one window made it impossible to ventilate the room on... More

My daughter and I were looking at colleges in the Amherst area and used the Amherst In as our home base. It is in a great location for touring schools and is right across from Emily Dickinson's house (worth seeing, as we did between tours). The inn is beautiful, quiet and charming. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and... More

My daughter and I stayed here in late March for one night in the midst of a madcap college visiting trip in which we visitied 8 colleges in 5 days. It was incredibly relaxing to be at the Inn, and we wanted to stay an extra night, but our plans didn't allow us to. The rooms are spacious and comfortable... More

We stayed here while visiting our daughter who goes to Hampshire College. The hostess was very friendly. The work that has been done on the house is beautiful. Our room was very well appointed and the breakfast buffet was just right ..... something for everyone. The inn is just a short walk from downtown Amherst. We would stay here again... More

We stayed for two nights at the Amherst Inn while visiting a college with our son in mid-March. The location was unbeatable, walking distance to dining and shopping. Our room was huge, comfortable and quiet. Despite the Victorian-era charm, the place had modern-era comfort, including a nicely equipped en suite bath, free wifi, and nice beds and linens. The breakfast... More

We were lucky to reserve a room at the Amherst Inn, which is just across the street from the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst. The house is over 150 years old and restored to historic elegance and coziness. We were treated to an upgrade to a corner room with beautiful natural light in the morning and a lofty and luxurious... Whenever possible I avoid large or small hotels of any brand. I have stayed in lovely B&Bs across the US. In my experience the Amherst Inn is at the top of the list. It is, of course, perfectly beautiful, restored and designed with exquisite attention to detail. Yet gorgeous interior and exterior design always serve the comfort of the guests.... More
