We stayed at Horace Kellogg's when travelling around New England. The hosts were very helpful, warm and friendly people. We felt absolutely comfortable there, just as if it was our own house. We'd really like to come back some time and be pampered once again! More

Between the Amherst Country Club and Amherst College, a good stretch of the legs to downtown Amherst. Old house on Rt. 116. Very nice place. The owners are really nice people. We chose this location to break up our journey from Mystic to Vermont, as it's about half way. This was a good choice for a place to stay. Amherst was a nice surprise. Horace Kellogg Homestead is a historic house (1828) restored to have a historic flavor with modern conveniences. The two bedrooms are beautiful and spacious. Although they don't have private bathrooms, this was not a problem for us because there are two modern bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, just a few steps from the bedrooms, and robes are provided. I stayed overnight at the Horace Kellogg recently, and thought it was a great find. The innkeepers were friendly and welcoming without being oppressive, and the accommodations were spotless. The "Judge's Room" was tastefully furnished in what I'd call a plain Victorian style (that is, tame prints and rich colors, but thankfully no fussy / cutesy paraphernalia like teddy bears... More
