We had no luck here. Room was tiny and uncomfortable; slept poorly. No wi-fi in the room (lobby only). The ultimate failure was the Split map they gave us. It showed this hotel in the WRONG location. Had a helluva time finding our way back, at night, on foot. We chose it because it had parking and was close to... More

We chose to stay in this hotel as on the map it looked to be convenient to the historic area of Split, had decent reviews, and was about half the price of other Split hotels. The hotel was extremely hard to find, being located in the middle of what we would consider a housing project, complete wiuth grafitti, etc. There... More

I stayed in the Villa Marjela for one night last weekend and can recommend it to anyone who is looking for value for money outside of the tourist trail. The hotel is situated in a residential area near the Archaeological Museum, a slightly up-hill ten-minute walk to the north-west from the Riva and Old City. When I arrived, I took... More

This was a very good value for the money. Yes, it is a bit difficult to find, so do take a taxi the first time. But it is about a 10-15 minute easy walk to the town, the rooms were fine (TV, refrigerator and bathroom) and the included breakfast was good as well. There's a grocery store about 3 minutes... More

The room was clean and had effective air con which is essential in Split in the summer. Breakfast was good at the price. Beds made every day and new towels every day.Just outside of town and 10 minutes walk to the sea. There were two very good restaurants along the seafront about 15 mins walk from Villa Marjela.

Villa Marjela is in a suburban district full of tower blocks, but really close to the city centre (5 mins to the edge of the centre, 10 mins to the old town). At night it didn't feel intimidating, but it was quite dark so didn't feel 100% safe either. I am probably being over cautious though. Room was a good... More

Hotel is a little out of the way and hard to find first time but is only a 15 minute walk to the Riva. Staff very helpful (sorted a taxi and early breakfast, gave directions and were chatty), rooms are clean, place is tidy and quiet.

Agree with the previous review regarding how to get to the hotel the first time. Its only difficult the first time round and taking a taxi from the Port/Bus Terminal is the cheapest way. After you arrive at the hotel, the hotel staff is very good at providing detailed instruction as to the quickest walking route to the center of... More

My critique of the hotel is pretty much the same as the previous four, which are right on -- so I won't go into that.. However, I do want to add some logistical info that might help the first time visitor to Split: First off, don't miss this place -- Diocletian's Palace is amazing, and the plaza/promenade by the harbor... This was the cheapest hotel in Split when we searched for somewhere to stay on our last night following 2 weeks backpacking. The rooms were very clean, bathrooms small but fine, but the location lets it down slightly. Although it was only 15 minutes walk into the old town, the maps of its location on any website are rubbish (the... More
