I previously stayed at Royal City last year and on this trip I stayed at Royal City Hotel on two occasions. The rooms I stayed in were reasonably sized with fridge, TV, air-conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities (thermos flask, cups and tea/coffee). Air conditioning in the rooms was just adequate (temperatures in Mandalay were around 40 degrees) because the rooms... More

We were stuck in Mandalay for one night (because the night train we wanted to take finally did not exist). We wanted somewhere close to the station, cheap and comfortable and we were extremely lucky in finding this hotel. This is a mid-range place where most of the rooms are out of our budget but they had one “economy” room... More

pros: decent rooms, decent breakfast, good location cons: a bit overpriced ($30 for a standard double, $40 for a superior double). service was spotty. we booked a bus ticket through them, and they told us they would organize transportation to the bus company's office at 5:15 am, where we needed to pick up the bus company's shuttle to the bus... I stayed here in April for a couple of nights, but moved to the hotel on the river as the room was the same price (US$40) but miles better standard. This place is more central, but taxis are cheap. The rooms are essentially fine, just could do with sprucing up - it's definitely got more of a hostel feel to... More

We liked this place for their friendly and extremely helpful staff, not so much for the design of the interior. They will help you with everything you might need in Mandalay and beyond without any hassle. Our room was simple but perfectly clean. The bathroom was not particularly inviting but also not the worst we had encountered in Burma. Good... More

Our en-suite double room was large and clean, located on the 1st floor and cost $ 30. The AC was loud but we turned it off at night. Is well located, our favourite places were the following: There is a restaurant around the corner BBB, which has very fast WiFi access, convenient. We ate the best chapati with curry in... More

Room was on a corner about 5th floor. It was clean but small. Hotel is very close to the train station as we had to take an (very) early morning train to Pyin Oo Lwin. Staff seemed fine and gave us a breakfast box of bread and bananas.

I called to book this hotel from bagan. There is no other way to book it other than calling the hotel directly. On the phone, i booked 2 nights at 30 usd/night and the receptionist confirmed it a few times. When we arrived, they said there is no more room at 30 usd and they wrote down we booked a... More
