Lovely hotel, was once the Princes Palace. Widely spread out, so a long walk to our room which had a spectacular view over the Mekong River. A long walk to the breakfast room, but again a spectacular view over the river. Nice room, well appointed and well maintained. I didn't see any better in the township, so would stay again.

This hotel is remote from the town and it is set in nice grounds. The breakfast seating does overlook the Mekong. We found the food to be good. The rooms are nice and clean, the a/c does work and the staff are nice and helpful. This is a peaceful location and anyone wanting a bit more action should be in... More

It's amazing how there are different views on this hotel. We stayed there a couple of nights, the rooms are very tired and need refurbishing and the towels are very old. The location is fantastic very close to the Mekong with wonderful views over the river however although there are plenty of staff around they don't seem to have been... More

We were booked in here by a travel company, and initially we were a little dismayed at just how far out of town the hotel is (Be prepared for this - its not walkable although there is a regular shuttle bus laid on by the hotel). The hotel has gorgeous well laid out grounds on the banks of the Mekong... More

Grand Luang Prabang's complex of buildings looks like it was supposed to be a great, five-star resort in a very exotic old city of Luang Prabang. However, the hotel amenities and furnishings make it fall behind its potential -- most of the furnishings were less than grade A: door fixtures were flimsy, the bed creaked, hair dryer and shower were... I recently stayed several nights at the Grand, my 5th or 6th stay. I thought I should do another review addressing some of the disparaging comments posted by other reviewers. This is the most magnificent hotel site in Luang Prabang. Some carp about the relatively short distance from the city center. However, this is what lends the hotel its charm.... More

Atmospheric setting, with some well tended grounds, including water buffalo gardeners, but showing signs of wear and tear at the edges, with a need for a positive management presence. 5 hours and several phone calls to get a fuse changed and no apology. Food OK, but nothing special. Courtesy shuttle bus useful but not very conveniently timed. Room soundproofing very... More

We stayed at The Grand Luang Prabang for 3 nights, including New Year's Eve. Hotel is located in a beautiful setting, but overall management and room condition was quite disappointing. The hotel is located in the outskirts of Luang Prabang. However, they provide a shuttle bus service and a tuk-tuk can be negotiated at 20,000 kip (less than 3 usd).... More

The hotel is grand by name but not by nature. Location is spectacular, and the gardens are very pleasant. The pet water buffaloes add a difference, too. But the restaurant is deservedly empty - after the buffet breakfast - and the hotel is built so that the chair scraping in room 202 can be heard in room 404. Guest services... More
