The best thing about it is the location, in the only heritage area in Dubai. Our room needed improvement, the courtyard was fun at breakfast. The atmosphere was not very joyful. We more liked the XVA Art Hotel around the corner.

The pictures of the Orient Guest House look enchanting don't they, but don't be fooled. The lovely courtyard with hanging seat was nowhere to be seen, unless it is attached to one of the rooms. The hotel is in heritage area with in the traditional Arabic architectural buildings, near the museums, the creek and another attractions. The staff is friendly but the rooms need extensive improvement, specially the bathrooms. The clerk left the desk alone while he cleaned the rooms. We booked in advance, but our rooms where still not adjacent.

Staying in Dubai for the first time I didn't realise that the Bastakiya Heritage Area is one that has no one living in it. There are only 2 hotels there and nothing much else bringing "life" into the area. Its a good option to stay if you dont really have deep pockets (Dubai is very expensive, more often than not). Spent 4 great nights at this very atmospheric hotel . Yes the mosque is audible but the call to prayer only lasts a short while and can provide a nice wake up call . Try to get the rooms at roof level .
