We stayed on the first floor for two days and moved up to the Sunset room for another three days after my daughter moved into the dorm. Everything was way beyond my exception, the bed, the decoration, fresh flowers, coffee, tea and not to mention the breakfast. Kathleen and her friend Matthew are such good host. They enjoy what they were doing and made ppl feel comfortable. Kathleen recommended Frita Batidos and Pacific Rim for dinning. The former is full of fun spirit, the later is more formal vibe. We loved them both.

During our decades of travel, Baxter House Bed & Breakfast ranks #1 in hospitality, architectural and interior quality, comfort, and delightful host Kathleen's gourmet breakfasts. We sipped wine on scenic deck with Ann Arbor daughter we were visiting, crossed adjacent Wheeler Park for dinner at historic Casey's Tavern and explored nearby Kerrytown shops downtown. Even at ages 77 and 78, my husband and I felt exhilarated about walking. Kathleen and her friend Matthew shared lively, informative conversations. We'll definitely make Baxter House our go-to getaway....

The apartment space at Baxter House was the perfect place to have my graduation party. On top of being an incredibly cozy and inviting space, it's truly beautiful and so well kept. My friends and I wanted to move in! Kathleen and Matthew are such delights, too. If you have the chance to talk to them over breakfast, you're in for a wonderful time. They're kind, full of great stories, and so pleasant to share a meal with. Ask Kathleen about the ukulele band she's a part of - it's awesome! Oh, and if you have dietary restrictions, have no fear, for Kathleen is a phenomenal cook who can accommodate your needs. Whether you need a special event space or a place to sleep for the night, Baxter House is above and beyond my family's new favorite place to recommend in Ann Arbor!

Baxter House B & B was the perfect place for our three generation Women's Weekend. The hostess and her house provided comfortable sleeping, wonderful breakfasts and a cozy space for morning and evening talks warmed by the fireplace. Because of the great location, we were able to walk to shops, restaurants, theaters and a beautiful river path. No car needed! When deciding where to gather next year, the resounding vote was "Baxter House B & B in Ann Arbor."

We stayed at the Baxter House Bed and Breakfast on a drive cross-country. This was one of my families very favorite lodgings out of the 20 places we stayed in. The Baxter House Bed and Breakfast is the most wonderful and charming bed and breakfast. It's located in the Kerrytown neighborhood and is easily walkable to great restaurants and grocery stores. It was perfect for our family of six - two adults and four children. There is even a big park across the street and another little park half a block up the hill. The apartment was the bottom half of the house and was ample and roomy for our family. There are two bedrooms and a bath and a half. The kitchen was stocked with all cooking materials that we needed to make dinner on our first night. The living room has cozy sofas and games that we enjoyed playing. There is also a lovely porch looking out into the wooded backyard. The most special thing about the Baxter House, however, is the innkeeper and owner, Kathleen. She is warm and gregarious lady who made us all feel like family. She cooked the most scrumptious breakfasts after asking us about our food preferences. She cooked a variety of foods for our sometimes picky children - plum tart, oatmeal pancakes, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and more. It was like a gourmet restaurant. Her coffee was also delicious! Staying at the Baxter House Inn Bed and Breakfast is a very special experience. It was perfect for our family but I think it would also be great for couples or singles.

My wife and I stayed on the third floor during the recent Ann Arbor Art Fair. Our accomodations were spotlessly clean, quiet, and comfortable. This is a great location for going to the Art Fair, only a few minutes walk from the action. The Baxter House spared no effort in welcoming us and helping to make our trip a success, even pinch-hitting by driving us to a restaurant after a cab mix-up. The food is fine, people are friendly, and the prices very reasonable at this hospitable establishment. Tom C

My business partner and I stayed on the first floor of Baxter House last December. Even though we couldn't arrive until 4 AM, owner Kathleen accommodated us. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well-stocked, the shower was a great relief after several hours on the road. We made use of the calming, toasty fireplace just about every night, and in the morning, Kathleen spoiled us with a variety of local teas and coffee, fresh fruit, and homemade breakfast! Not only was the food delicious, but Kathleen was such great company to chat with, sharing with us the history & construction of Baxter house. The best part of Baxter House B & B is that it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the heart of Ann Arbor. I've stayed at a number of B & Bs and Baxter House remains my favorite!

What a wonderful B and B this is, run by super-nice people, who really care about their visitors. Great rooms, extremely clean bathrooms, with very hot running water, nice mosaic tiles, and wood furnishings. Quiet and leafy, and a nice walk to the UM campus. Breakfast was epic; home-made buckwheat pancakes, mixed fresh fruit, fresh cream, bacon, very strong coffee. Would stay again here in a flat minute. They gave me airtime when I left, just to be nice! Do stay in this place .....

My wife and I spent two nights at the Baxter House as part of a surprise weekend to celebrate a special birthday. The place itself is an artfully reimagined older home with every comfort and amenity you could expect in a B&B. It is light-filled and tasteful - designed by a very talented architect. Beautiful large windows, fresh high-quality bedding and linens - and a second floor bath where you could spend a whole weekend luxuriating. Our hosts Katleen and Matt were warm, kind and entertaining. When I made our reservation, Kathleen asked if we had any special dietary requests for breakfast. i explained that my wife is vegan and she agreed to accommodate. Well - "accommodate" turned out to be an understatement! The first morning, we were treated to Migas - a freshly prepared mixture of tofu (for my wife) eggs (for me) with jalapenos, sweet onions, tumeric, grape seed oil, cumin, cilantro and green chile seasoning. In addition, we had a plate of fresh avocados, tomatoes and onions with EVO and seasonings. And...Zingermans Dunkelbrot bread with homemade rhubarb preserves. And...locally roasted fresh coffee and herbal teas. The second morning, we enjoyed Duca - a warm black rice with vegan yogurt, pineapple, mango, freshly toasted coconut and slivered almonds. And - soft and hard boiled eggs to order, accompanied with homemeade blackberry muffins and lemon curd topping. (we smelled the muffins baking as soon as we woke!) We also received an A2 visitors' parking pass. Not that we needed it, because Baxter House is in easy walking distance to Kerrytown and downtown. Our hosts also provided us with newspapers, magazines and other resources about local music , entertainiment , cultural and dining options. And...with geniunely fun conversation about food, music (Kathleen plays in a uke band) and life. If you are looking for a place to get away or a place to hang your hat while on business - this is one that you can't miss. Thank you, thank you, thank you Kathleen and Matthew for making our weekend one to remember! We'll be back.

When visiting family in Ann Arbor I had the pleasure of staying in Baxter House. The house is beautifully designed and finished, the bedrooms bright and comfortable, the toiletries organic, the food delicious and thoughtfully prepared. While these are all important considerations when choosing a place to stay, the real pleasure for me was the welcome and warmth Kathleen, the owner, has for each of her guests. Her life experiences and wisdom made for great conversation over breakfast. I look forward to a return visit.
