The staff at Hotel Monserrat was very friendly and the price is very reasonable. The bedrooms are spacious and the bathrooms were descently clean. Our bed sheets had stains, which was a bit disturbing. The bed itself was very old, stiff, and uncomfortable. We had to switch rooms for the second night we were there, because the street-facing rooms are... More

Let's not be too harsh about Hotel Monserrat. It's not a luxury hotel, but unless you're very particular, it's a decent value for the price. We stayed here on two separate occasions and left satisfied. The cons? 1) Depending on how crowded the hotel is and your room's location, it can be noisy at night. (Rooms towards the back are... I have only reviewed one hotel prior to this one. Lonely Planet had positive things to say about Monserrat; also many of the reviews seemed positive with only a few dissenters. But after our experience here yesterday I feel compelled to warn off those who are not so easily taken in. For us, quiet rooms are probably the most important... More

Booked the matrimonial room .... arrived at the hotel at 9 AM and we were very disappointed with the room but reluctantly checked in because we were given information that all the better hotels had no vacancies. We left our bags in the room, which was tiny, stinky, and well past needing redectorating. We decided to go check another hotel... More

At first glance, this seems like an ok place. All the rooms are gathered around a central courtyard. That courtyard amplifies every single sound and footstep which then passes through the thin doors and windows of the rooms. There are no screens, and since the only ventilation is the windows (need especially for the bathroom), the bugs come right into... More

We were very satisfied, but the rooms differ. The first room we were in was on the dark side, with a window only to the patio. We changed to room 26 with views of the "cristo", very nice. Considering the price a very good place. More

This hotel is a gem. I stayed here after staying on 2 more expensive hotels on El Prado, and I vastly preferred Hotel Monserrat. It was much quieter, more secure, and as I said cheaper. The rooms were small but clean and nice. For an experienced traveller, I also think the area is better and more interesting even though it... More
