Interesting safari/tribal -type village hotel close to the entrance of the Periyar Tiger/Elephant Reserve in the Spice hub town of Thekkady in the mountains. Ideal spot to learn more about spices. Service: Very friendly and professional staff! Price/Rates: Quality mid-range accommodation. Restaurant/Bar reasonable. Location: Good and quiet location walking distance to spice and souvenir shops, restaurants and Periyar. Short driving... More

We stayed in one of the bungalows which was simple but very pleasant and comfortable. The ammenities were very good. the restaurant was buffet style with a good selection of local food. The a la carte restaurant was closed unfortunately so we don't know how that was. The bar was good and a nice place to relax. the staff were... More

Eco friendly resort. The room is a simple bungalow, reasonable size, simple, and clean. The 2 restaurants are good. The all resort is surrounded by beautiful trees, monkeys and birds. We did not have the chance to see any bats nor any tiger in the park. Nice drive from there to Cochin through the tea plantation. More

Great place for relaxation. Very interesting gardens as they contain hundreds of trees (all with their names beside them). Spacious rooms (some are like a small house). You don't need to do any tours as the Village itself is a calm retreat. Great Eco feel. Lovely shop with many quirky things that I didn't find elsewhere in India. Spectacular grey... More

The bungalows are lovely. We stayed for 2 nights in April in a suite which are the furthest from reception so there is a pay off for space over location. The rooms are simple but nice. The pool was pretty (not big but its not a big hotel.) I loved the cooking demo and the vibe of the hotel with... More

Spice Village is beautifully situated in a garden with local plants and trees cultivated on site. The hotel ascribes to locavore cuisine, with one of its restaurants sourcing food from within 50 kilometers. The rooms are large and well appointed. They are open air and screened, so beware mosquitoes! Keep the doors closed and you will be fine. The small... More

This is a large resort, spread out with large cottages set in park like setting. Room was a big, nice but not luxe or special. Friendly check in with good information. Breakfast was very good but lunch and dinner a bit expensive so we ate at hotel next door, Alambara recommended by our driver. Food here was very good and... More

We enjoyed two busy days in Thekkady. Riding and washing elephants at Elephant Junction was an unforgettable experience. Thanks 'Lucky'. Plenty of shops. The three hour walking safari was enjoyable but we saw no wild elephants (or tigers). Our guide said he had seen tigers two or three times, in the distance. He was armed with a small stick. The... I was part of a group that stayed in Spice Village in April. I had an amazing time. The only bad thing was that I only stayed there for a night. 02 nights in Spice Village is necessary to enjoy the property and destination. We were welcomed by Mr. Sam John, the Asst. GM and his team. The check in... More
