We had booked a superior room, it turned out to be a dark (one dim lightbulb, the other light wasnt working), very dusty cellar of 6 sqm. One window couldnt be closed (no glass in it at all), so it was noisy all night. The bathroom is so filthy you will not want to use it. The restaurant is on...

I stayed with my friend here for a couple of day's. We where searching for a low budget kind of place inside the old part of the town. As we could not find a room under 500 rupees with other hotels we ended up with amar niwas who had a room for 400 rupees.
I only recommend this place if...

The accomodation is within walking distance to the magnificient Fort and to Jaswant Thada.
The owner tried to sell me some stuff but was never too pushy about it or maybe Im just a very assertive person lol.
The food served was also pretty good and cheap.

If you scroll down you will see lots of 4 and 5 star reviews for this frankly horrible place. I imagine this is because the owner has asked them to write the reviews. First the good news: It has good views, good tea and is in a good area near the fort.

An excellent budget option with a killing view from the rooftop! Our room was small and nothing fancy, but atmospheric if anything ever was and with a little balcony overlooking the Blue City - particularly nice in the sunset. Mr. Sunil & family are but friendly and helpful, so if you need a home away from home, Amar Niwas could...

I came to Jodhpur to buy a large amount of Rajasthani handicrafts for an Indian restaurant overseas. I am not a buyer by trade and had no idea where to start and was fairly certain i would get ripped off. But Sunil and Neena at the Amar Niwas guesthouse saved me from complete failure. They are so nice and so...

The location is fabulous and the owners very welcoming. Sunil is eccentric, but charming!
I read some of the negative reviews on here and feel that the reviewers were just not open to staying at a basic, backpacker style guesthouse.
We had a lovely time!
