very poor hotel..not worth a penny...pathetic food. writing as i am currently staying at this property. instead of this, check for willow hill or kings cliff....maybe a little higher on price...but defintely wont be a disappointment.... monarch...rubbish !! More

The trip to ooty is picturesque and beautiful. The monarch hotel adds to the same experience. Located at quite a height. It is little away from the main market. I had booked this hotel through a travel website - looked decent there, much better than the others in the same price range. And they made a good pitch about it being perched at the top of Ooty. Stayed here for 4 nightsin feb 2010 as part of a four week self drive tour of S.E. India. The hotel is in a lovely location in the hills above Ooty with great views down to the town and across the mountains but you really need transport if you are staying here as it is a long up hill journey... More
