The only advantage of the hotel is location - just 5 mins to the railway station. Our room was called "deluxe"!, but it was very poor, without window, with mould on walls, very humid! the breakfast meant 2 slices of bread and dirty jam jar. We cannot recommend it.

Service and location is excellent. But the room is like never ever be swept or mob or clean. Filthy! I felt this ichiness on the bed, consistently, either mosquitoes or lices! Expensive! The towels smell!

This place failed to impress from the moment we arrived when the staff didn't speak English and walked us up to the room carrying our towels but not offering to help with the numerous small bags we had, up a filthy, chipped, cigarette butt covered stair case.... I stayed for one night at the Sparkling Backpacker hotel. The room I stayed in was a standard; it was dirty, noisy and generally uncomfortable. The only plus is really the price, I played 115 000 RP for one night, but I'm not quite sure it was worth even that!

My friend and I stayed here for one night on our way through to Bromo. Standard rooms do not have hot water and only have a moveable showerhead over a sink. For a $5 (CAD) upgrade we got a Deluxe room which was considerably bigger and had an actual shower with hot water. Note that the shower is clearly visible... More
