We enjoyed our stay at Lalaca. Good things: - e-mail contact and staff at the hotel does include English speakers - spacious Japanese-style room (I believe they also have Western-style) with comfortable futon - truly excellent food (dinner was one of the best meals I've had), although served in dining room rather than room (would need to pay even more... My 19 year old son and I stayed for 2 nights in the first week of December. I chose Lalaca based on location, price and favourable reviews . I booked directly with the hotel, paying 13,950 yen per person per night including breakfast and dinner. It was a bit of a treat for us and the most expensive accommodation during a... More

We left Nagoya for Hakone and were still amazed that we had actually left the states and were in Japan. I had corresponded with the Kazu , (whose father opened this ryokan 20 years before our arrival. )and was truly going for an experience that was even better than I dreamed of . Getting from Nagoya to Hakone was a... More

Perfect place for honeymoon. Warm hospitality. Great meals. Never seen something so delicate. The only thing is that sometimes other guests might have taken your reserved slot for the onsen.

This was our one night out from Tokyo, was fortunate to see a pretty clear Mount Fuji. Lalaca is a very nicely furnished place with green surroundings althought location wise, not really ideal as it a five min walk from the tram station, rooms was very japanese, i took the room with private shower, if not u would have to... Nice small hotel with private hot spring bath inside. Lalaca is near the Gora station (Hakone area) and only 3 minutes away from the Cable-Car station Koen-Shimo. Lalaca has only 8 rooms, which make the hotel very familiar. The rooms are in Japanese style and very clean, big and good looking. You sleep on a fouton bed and it is... More

It takes a little walking after the 1St stop on the cable car. Get off on the right side! walking straight from gora is a bad idea! Great in the reverse direction thou. The common area is fantastic! N the room is better than any one off those in Tokyo. Meals are unbelievable. onsen wise, don't miss it! The private... More

Lalaca is a fantastic cosy place, really loved their warm hospitality. They took time to explain how everything worked in the hotel. Unlike a bigger setup, in a small ryokan there was a lot of attention to details & guests needs. English is limited, just email to them - Kazu will help you, there are a few others who also... More

Amazing food, gorgeous hot springs, great scenery, traditional Japanese tatami rooms, good location, you name it, Lalaca has it. We stayed here for one night as a transit stop in Hakone and we regret not spending another night here. The standard package included dinner and breakfast, and these were the best meals we had during our whole trip in Japan.... More

Stayed at Lalaca for 2 nights and yes, I agree with the reviewers that Kazu was helpful, the lobby area was very picturesque with full glass windows looking out to the trees and a very scenic view. What we were disappointed with was really where our room was situated. We knew we were going to get a room where we... More
