Hakone is expensive - its only 85 minutes by the Romancar train from Shinjuku, therefore super popular for weekend trips. It took me a while to decide on Fujimien - its pretty much the only ryokan that has a reasonable price tag to it, and great reviews. And we thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay there. We went on a... It was easy to get to. Short distance to Togendai via bus T. We had the Hakone free pass and went through the train, railway, cable car, ropeway... Then check in at the lodge. We took the Japanese style room, indeed very spacious. We had no problem setting up the futon beds and had a great rest too. I even... More

Attentive staff, a huge room with views of Mt Fuji from the window. (I was visiting with my 17 year old daughter.) Brilliant location. Fantastic, relaxing place to stay. We had booked the dinner for our two night's. The 15 or so complex dishes were good and very well presented but with a hearty breakfast too, one night eating in... More

LOVED IT! This was the second hotel of a 16 day trip with my mother, learning about Japan for the first time. FYI, we are Americans (from NY) if it gives any background. The staff were extremely helpful and polite (true of everywhere in Japan, actually), but still it deserves notice. LOCATION - it is about a 45 minute ride... More

It's a pity that we could only stay for one night in this small but exceedingly comfortable hotel. Dinner is wonderful and we especially enjoyed the scenic view of Mt. Fuji when we relaxed in the hot spring of this hotel. Staff were very helpful and always prepared to offer good suggestions to make our stay more memorable.

If your going to stay in the Hakone area, this is a great place to enjoy a traditional Japanese experience. From relaxing in the onsen, eating the traditional meals served in the dining room, wearing the yukata and slippers provided, drinking the green tea while lounging on the tatami mats, this is a great place to unwind and relax. We... More

It wasn't hard to get to Lodge Fujimien from the the directions given on the hotel's website. We took the train to Odawara and took a local bus from the JR station. The room is spacious for the 3 of us and it was pretty interesting to make our own Futon (Japanese beddings). The area is clean and comfy, only... More

This place was quite expensive compared to our other accomodations in Japan, but I think it's still one of the best value around Hakone area. We chose a ryokan room, traditional Japanese style. That was really interesting, it felt just like from any Japanese movie with the paper screen doors and tatami mats, the low table, futons on the floor... More

This place was our 'splurge' in Japan and we were not disappointed. Travelling with a friend we wanted a place that was traditional and had great food. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. Though some dishes were not as familiar as others - there was nothing to be worried about. It all tasted great - even some of... More

We enjoyed our stay at this ryokan. The room was decent, and we thought the traditional slippers that came in kids sizes were really cute. They had the traditional yutaka in kids sizes, small enough even for my 3 year old! The Onsen was clean and the dressing area well equipped with lotion and all. The breakfast had a good... More
