Our trip to Japan was so busy! Running here running there... Then we got to Hakone Ginyu. My boyfriend and I were going to go do the "freepass" tour that day, but the minute we got to Hakone Ginyu, we knew we would not want to leave the property, and we didn't until the following day at check out. We... More

Loved, loved, loved Hakone Ginyu! I'm actually not the type to write reviews on anything, but I just had to because this was really an exeprience worth raving about. Okay, so I booked this Ryokan because it had good reviews and looked great in pictures, but realized once we got there that the pictures hardly did the hotel justice.. It... More

We have been fortunate to travel to many wonderful places but few have made such a lasting impression as this. The contrast withTokyo (a comfortable 2 hours away on a couple of trains) is quite magical and while the Hakone area generally is something of a Tourist trap for locals and foreigns visitors alike (a bit like the UK's Lake... I was initially very hesitant in booking this ryokan because of the price, but once I stepped foot in the door I knew that I had made the right decision. Right from the beginning, we were warmly greeted by Mr. Suzuki (the director for international guests), and he showed us to the welcome area where we were first given a... More

this was the last stop of our 2 week japan trip. we stayed mostly in ryokans during the whole stay. this one was our big splurge and it was amazing. everyone was so friendly. the ryokan was spotless and luxurious. There were 2 public onsen that were nice overlooking the mountains but the best part was having one in your... More

There isn't anything critical I can say about this ryokan, except I cannot get a return trip soon enough. From the moment we arrived, we felt well looked after and soaked in the traditional Japanese hospitality and food. The food is top drawer - the Japanese breakfast and dinner will not soon be forgotten. It is relatively easy to reach... More

This is the most peaceful and luxurious place I've ever stayed in. All the small touches add up to a great example of what hospitality is all about. The private onsens are a little slice of heaven. Sitting in the onsen seeing the fog roll in over the nearby mountains and disappear with the sunrise is probably one the most... More

I was a bit weary of booking this place since I really wanted a traditional ryokan experience while in Hakone. I initially thought this might be more of a trendy tourist place and not where the Japanese would stay. Then it dawned on me; I’m a tourist and the Japanese themselves do stay here, since it’s very traditional in concept,... More

If you are In Tokyo for more than 4 days, I would suggest you build in an overnight trip to Hakone, a very popular destination for locals as well, and stay at Hakone Ginyu for the night (or two nights, itinerary permitting). It was our second time staying here (last time was 2010) and it is as delightful as ever.... More

We stayed at Hakone Ginyu for one night as part of our honeymoon tour of Japan and it was absolute heaven. It is the most relaxing and luxurious place we have ever visited. The staff were absolutely wonderful - an incredibly high level of service, nothing was too much trouble, but so friendly and warm. The 'rooms' are more like... More
