I booked this ryokan to give my visiting mum and 2 aunts a real Japanese experience and we weren't disappointed. Living in Japan I've stayed in a few ryokans but Zen Oyado is really the best I've seen and I'd recommend it happily. The staff, in particular the lady owner is just lovely and made us feel relaxed and very... More

We stayed 2 nights in this ryokan and it was sad to leave this place. Fantastic service, very clean, Japanese bath made of stone (not plastic), real Japanese breakfast, everything is perfect, you get small fruits before going to bed, tea in a room is very high grade (in silk bags). We booked directly via web site, just send the... More

Very friendly owner. Very Clean. I will choose to stay here again over any 5 star establishment. Seiko (owner) makes you feel at home. the only draw back is the shared bathrooms. luckily we were the only guest there so we have the place to ourself. More

We had a lovely 3-night stay here. Our room was modest but very clean and beautiful - the futons were extremely comfortable, and the pillows were great. We were slightly concerned beforehand that sleeping on the floor might be either uncomfortable or cold, but it was snug and relaxing. The whole place was always warm, and the hot private bath... I've stayed in this ryokan three times. It is quite small and cosy, with about five fairly small guest rooms, but it is well attended by very polite and helpful staff, including owner Seiko. Facilities are good - guest rooms don't have space for baths, but there is a modern public bath that can be reserved and locked, and so... More

We spent three nights here and we were overwhelmed by the owner's generosity. Seiko really does go above and beyond. One of us needed to visit a doctor during our stay and Seiko arranged for an English speaking staff member to come to the hospital as a translator as well as driving us there personally (during golden week no less).... I stayed here 4 nights and everything was great. The room was clean and really cozy. There was a bath tub japanese style available. Free fast wi-fi also. The only thing i would have change would be the location. Although it wasnt that bad but its quite a long walk to both 2 nearest subway stations: yakuin and watanabedori. Finally,... More

We just LOVED our stay here! From the service, to the room, to the wonderful food. Fukuoka is a wonderful city, hardly any tourists and a peaceful atmosphere. The hotel was a bit hard to find for the taxidriver (in Japan: just always print and take a map of where you want to go). We were greeted very kindly by... More

Although not widely advertised (the owner doesn't speak much English), this place is probably the nicest and most comfortable ryokan i've ever stayed in Fukuoka. **the email address listed on the website is the best way to contact the place** The owner is a pleasant middle-aged lady named Seiko, who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable.... If you have any interest at all in staying in traditional Japanese inns, you must not pass on the opportunity to visit Nishitei. The inn, the rooms, the owner, the food, and most importantly, the experience, are excellent. The rooms at Nishitei are traditional tatami rooms, of various sizes, and the inn features shared baths, as it common in Japan,... More
