Hotel Arthur is a very nice hotel close to Beppu station. You can easily walk around the city by foot. The rooms are small, but a little bigger than a usual Japanese room. Comfortable bed. The staff was not able to speak English. A lovely city with great hot springs.

only a 2 minute or so walk to the main city station of Beppu. Do take note that while you will be conveniently located near the necessary places to get food, bars, malls, major train station and bus stop, you are a bit far from most tourist spots. Beppu is serviced by 2 bus companies and getting a day pass... More

“It's the "Arthur Hotel, not "Arther Hotel"”

Excellent value. Excellent location, just a three-minute walk from the train station. Staff speaks English well enough to route incoming international telephone calls reliably. Internet connection is fine. (Mostly) Japanese-style breakfast is reasonably priced.

This is a basic hotel in Beppu. The rooms are tiny. There is a free internet, however, and the staff do speak good English (which is not a given in Beppu). The location is central, although Beppu quite small so you should be able to walk around from anywhere.
