We were staying at a hotel across the road and visited here many times. They serve a mix of local and western food and a great drinks selection also. Great food and service and with the air cond a welcome relief from the heat.

Staying in a traditional shophouse was high on our agenda whilst in Georgetown, Penang. The Coffee Atelier was ideal. Great location. The breakfast in their own cafe was better than expected. Stefan, our host, was very helpful. We (3) were pleased to have chosen this accommodation rather than a standard hotel room. Not much point going to a UNESCO site... More

The hotel is situated in the heart of the town, a short walk from Little India and 'Chinatown', amidst budget/back packers accomodation. Having said that it is postioned perfectly, tucked away from the main traffic area which allows you to sit outside on the verandah and relax without constant cars or people passing. Being in the budget area of town... More

Bang in the heart of historic Georgetown and within walking distance from all the must-sees, Coffee Atelier is an ideal choice for independent travellers who prefer living in a restored shophouse over holidaying in a chain hotel. With only four beautifully designed units, guests really feel like inhabiting a Peranakan museum, a luxurious step back in time. We booked 49B... More

The hotel has 4 rooms only, in renovated house. Its architecture is very typical for the town, I felt like I was in the past, but I had all contemporaty conveniences. Hotel is close to the Chinatown as well as to the Indian quarter, but the surroundings of the hotel is not in a good condition.

Hi, my wife and I and our two little kids (4 and 2) stayed here in April 2013. We were in 49B. Loved the place. its on the upper floor and is quite spacious - with a large bedroom with a king size bed and a much smaller one with a single bed and a common bathroom. The larger bedroom... More

I highly raccommend a visit to this Small Cafe' with an Art centre attached to it in the heart of colonial Gergetown. I like the way they make you feel like home. Food is very nice. Don't miss the Shellfish. And the creme brulee! You can buy a bottle of wine and save it for the next day. And the... More

I'm just back from my trip in Malaysia, visited Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi. Coffee Atelier is located right on the edge of little India in Georgetown. It takes about 30 minutes by cab from the airport. CA is not just another hotel, it's an experience ! When we arrived we were greeted by Stefan the owner who put all... More

Coffee Atelier offers the perfect experience for anyone looking for a historical Penang experience. The rooms are modernized just enough to be very comfortable and still retain old world charm. The location is great, right in the heart of old Georgetown, and set back from the main thoroughfares. Great restaurants, bars, and shops all near by. Wonderfully friendly and helpful... More
