This is a must place to stay for 2-3 nights, if you are visiting Borneo. We stayed in Jungle View Villa, which we considered more interesting then Ocean View, as you can watch lizards and monkeys (if lucky) from your windows. Ocean View villas are the same inside, but you have your own stairs to the sea, which is nice... More

Gayana is an island very close to Borneo, some 15 minutes away (by boat) from Kota Kinabalu city. Gayana Eco Resort is a water-villa style resort, having it's own Marine Ecology Center. Views are beautiful all day long and the rooms are clean, even if they are not new anymore and you can sea some aging signs (some villas are... More

We stayed 3 nights here which was probably about right.  The checkin (on mainland) was smooth and we asked for an upgrade which was all handled well given the short notice.  It is a very short boat ride to the resort. In fact we upgraded based on previous TA reports to an Ocean View and we think it was well... More

My husband and I have just left the idyllic Gaya Island after a 5 night stay (honeymoon package) at Gayana. From the moment we were collected from KK airport we knew that we had made the perfect choice for the beginning of our honeymoon. We stayed in the Bayu Villa (ocean view) and loved every minute of our private deck... More

We were hesitant upon making the booking as some of the reviews we had read were fairly negative and concerning. We had only spent 1 night at Gayana Resort and it exceeded all our expectations! The food was exquisite (whilst more expensive than the mainland... you get what you pay for), the staff were extremely helpful and went above and... More

It was a wonderful stay at Gayana Resort. We've chosen the Palm Villa and it was the right choice. The water was clear outside the Palm Villa, perhaps it was due to its location. We could see thousands of fishes when we went snorkeling off from our villa. There are many different kind of fishes, such as nemo, star fish,... More

Just had a most relaxing stay in the palm villa over the water. Private plunge pool , snorkeling off of villa with hundreds of amazing fish!! As most of the resort is a bit older the usual wear and tear of the tropics is apparent but the palm villas are 2 years old and amazing. Huge. Clean and complimentary mini... More

we only stayed at the resort for 1 night and I am glad! the staff were very friendly but slow in service. considering how expensive it is to stay there i expected more. our room itself was beautiful but food was average, boat service was slow and the island itself and the activities selection was boring. Accutully, the 5 days I stayed is not bad if you don't consider bad food and saw garbage... More
