The Ming Star is now getting a little derelict due to its age. Although the hotel is well situated near the waterfront, there is no reason to stay in it since the same owner has opened the Ming Paragon next door. The prices of the two hotels are not too different, but the Paragon has far superior facilities (like a... More

We booked this hotel through Agoda, it was the worst hotel we have stayed in in one month of travelleing in Malaysia. The toilet was blocked, the window had a wooden shutter instead of a curtain and when we opened it there was so much dirty rubbish outside the window. The room and bed were dirty, linen not changed and... More

A very nice hotel and great value for the price. The location was good, near some nice restaurants and the waterfront. The room was probably a bit on the small side, but the bathroom was large and clean. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. More

Good decent room with hard mattress. First time sleeping on a hard mattress, but manage to have some good night sleeps only to wake up once for toilet break. The toilet has a sliding door shower screen to ensure dry toilet when doing your business. I like strong water pressure coming from the shower and the hot water is just... More

I stayed in a Mingstar hotel 2 nights, but that was more than enough. Hotel is average maintained, standard rooms are tiny and noisy. I heard all the time the bell of the elevator and noise from the traffic from the nearby street. Basically you get what you pay. The only thing that was good is quite large bathroom almost... More

Spend 1 night before heading to Redang Island the next morning. Good : -Room, bed and toilet are very clean. -Cheap (RM108) for standard room. included breakfast. -7/11 just opposite the hotel. A few cafes opposite & next to the hotel. -Beer is available opposite road. turn left when you walk out the hotel, look for a signage "Ocean Seafood... More

Had a pleasant enough 1 night stay at Mingstar. We had the top room for about RM 170 i think & it was very good for the price - lovely shower after some rubbish ones on the islands! All front rooms suffer from traffic noise. 7 Eleven oppsoite for provisions & couple of restaurants in same road, but the actual... More

I like it as the floor is wooden rather than carpet. When we went back the 2nd time, we, however stayed in the Ming Star Paragon, a few doors ahead. Same owner. Just opened in July. Better rooms. More comfort. Bit higher rate. I rated average for cleaniness for this hotel. But the fact is a lot other hotels in... More

Compared to the other, more expensive hotels I stayed in Kuala Terengganu (Seri Malaysia,MidTown), this is definitely a better hotel. Its very clean clean and cosy, although the bed was too hard for my liking. No elevator (good exercise after all the food!) and ironing facility right outside the room. Very modern look to it as well. More

On the way to the islands, about 10 minutes walk from bus sation and 16 min from Central Market (batik!). Rooms are little bit old, but toilets had just been renovated wich is very good. Beds are a quite hard (still ok) and towels are brand new! They should be more careful with the cleaniness in the shower. TV with... More
