We were warmly greeted by Roberto, who looked after us well throughout our stay. Our room was good, clean and well presented, the home cooking used fresh, simple and good ingredients. Amazing fresh fruit juices made every day. The grounds are stunning and teeming with wild-life. Take the turning to Santa Rita Arriba if you are driving, as the internet... More

The Lodge was difficult to find and even the sign at the entrance is ambiguous. However, its location is stunning; on the very edge of the forest which spreads out in front of it. Tocans and parrots fly overhead and humming birds swoosh around the lovely beautiful garden. The main house is charming and the chalets have large rooms with... More

It is well worth a night or 2 here for birding. It is easy to get to, ignore the complicated directions in the guide books which are out of date. Get a bus to Sabanitas, then a taxi for $5 up the hill to the hotel. The taxi might not want to go down the very steep drive, but it... More

Our terrific guide, Antonio Rocha, (Tony) drove us to Sierra Llorona for "a night in the jungle" at a very reasonable price. Roberto, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. The guide doesn't speak English, but really knows his nature, so it works fine. He can whistle and call in many birds, show you a sloth, etc. Be sure to... More

We stayed at Sierra Llorona for only one night, but enjoyed it very much. Roberto was very helpful and eager to hear our feedback to improve the place. The rates were very reasonable for a family room with 2 bedrooms, lounge area with fridge and private bathroom. We ate the family style dinner and really enjoyed it. They offered a... More

I stayed at Sierra Llorona August 21-25 2012 on an insect-collecting trip. I second all the great reviews provided by other guests on this site. The cook, Miss Serafina, does a wonderful job producing five or six different recipes (each meal!) served buffet style. There's something there for everyone, at every meal. Their resident guide, Jorge, was obviously equipped with... More

We stayed at Sierra Llorona in June 2012 for 3 nights. We loved the house, but we loved the staff even more. Roberto made us feel very welcome, Jorge spotted every living thing in the rain forest and Miss Fina's meals were delicious. We expected to be hot in the rooms without A/C, but we slept fairly well. Keep in... More

We have recently returned from a wonderful visit to Panama, with the primary focus on birding. We thoroughly enjoyed Sierra Llorona Panama Lodge, and highly recommend it to anyone seeking excellent birding and personalized, warm, friendly service. We found the accommodations and grounds very reminiscent of Cave Creek Ranch in Arizona, a place that is well-known and well-loved by many... More

Three nights in idyllic surroundings of Panamanian forest, close to the Caribbean side of Panama and Achiote Road, a mecca for birding. Driving over Gatun Lock on the Panama Canal with a large ship coming right at you was quite an experience. The lodge is clean and very comfortable with several verandas right there to view lots of birds. Hummingbird... More
