I have decided to refresh my memory on USSR time - usually I booked this hotel (it was not easy for the time) in 80-th when travelling abroad from my home town Novosibirsk. I should say, that almost nothing changed - very slow receiption stuff with half working card terminal, terrible restaurant with falsified red french wine and extremely hard... More

This started out as a ver positive review until I checked how much they were charging. Its a 3-4 star hotel, maybe a good 3 star is the best description, no complaints, except at 6600 RUB per night I would have expected a bit more. If I has paid sa4 3500-4500 RUB per night I would be very happy with... More

The cordiality and availability of the staff unfortunately does not compensate the overall impression. The hotel is pretty old: very old (horrid) bathroom w. a bath and plastic curtain, shabby chair, dirty mocquette (the rest of the furniture including the bed was fine). Very thin walls and doors so you can hear TV and phonecalls of your neighbors. So are... More

I hope never to darken the doors of this dreary hotel again. It is expensive for what it is, and comfortless. Curtains that don't keep the light out or even cover the whole of the windows, small mean bathroom (this was in a suite), non-functioning air conditioner, no minibar, no means of making tea or coffee, though they did give... I've selected the Academicheskaya hotel for its great location (withing the Sadovoye ring, minutes from the subway and the Gorky Park) and reasonable price (reasonable for the expensive Moscow city, of course). My room was at 11th flour. I stayed at the hotel for three days, for one day the elevator didn't work. It was quite problematic to catch a... More

I was booked here by the University I was visiting. The rooms were clean and liked that it had a small fridge as you must only drink bottled water. They only offer singles with very small beds. I found them sufficiently comfortable, but one travel companion noted that his was unbearable in his room. The breakfast had some variation during... More

The hotel is a large block on a major road, if you follow that road you can actually walk into the city center. It is a highrise building and there are only three elevators so in the morning you have to wait for a LONG time (i had to wait up to 15 Minutes) or use the stairs. The staff... More

Akademicheskaya is a safe bet - I always stay there when I travel to Moscow. The hotel is owned by the Russian Academy of Sciences, thus a very nice intelligent crown staying at the Hotel. It is centrally located and still reasonably priced. Renovated rooms are nice and comfy and neutral, those that are not renovated are really scary. The... More
