We booked our room directly throught the hotel as it was cherry blossom season & accommodation was hard to find. We paid $130AUD a night which was good value. The room was small but suitable for the 2 of us. The futon beds were quite comfy. The bathroom was small but very clean. There was a small bath & you... More

After web payment the day before with hotel.com, we discover that the hotel check in Is at 3.00 pm. We had to pay 2100 yen to come in our room at morning. No good welcome if you arrive in early morning.

We booked thru Jalan and paid 12,000 Yen per standard room per night (there were two of us). We stayed for 4 nights and we loved it. As it's the sakura season, rooms were hard to come by. We were glad that we found Village Kyoto. It's only 2 minutes away from Keihan Omiya and Randen Shijo-omiya stations, great for... More

We traveled with the 5 of us and the room was just enough for us to fit all of our futons and suitcases. Overall, it's a clean hotel with friendly staff and a wonderful public bath. It is also very well located near a subway station and has a convenience store nearby. From this hotel you can travel to the... More

We wanted to try the Japanese style futons on the floor, and actually paid more than for similiar western style hotels but we had to make our own futon beds which the maids never put up and the futons at the hotel seemed particularly hard compared to the ryokan I last stayed at. Also, the room was advertised as 26sqm,... More

Although it was my first time sleeping in a ryokan style room — ie. making my own bed on the floor— it was a pleasant experience. There are no English speaking tv channels, but the Japanese shows and commercials are entertaining still. The hotel is only a 3-5 min walk to the subway, and only 2 stations from Kawaramachi, which... More

Hotel village is a good choice for those who hangout outside all day long in Kyoto. With its convenient location close to Omiya(阪急大宮) station and bus stops where a bunch of numbers pass by, guests could easily reach any places in Kyoto and other Kansai cities. Although the room is pretty tiny and nothing else except for sofa bed (futon)... More

So, I didn't really know what we were getting into when we walked in, but there we were, a 297 sq.ft. room with fold out futons that we make (and put away ourselves). Don't get me wrong, it was definitely clean, so I didn't feel weird about being being basically on the ground to sleep (on a tatami mat). The... More

at first we were a bit shocked when entering the door as there was only a sofa and a low bar table in the room; we had to unfold our futons ourselves... but the kids loved it. the rooms are large enough to sleep 3-4 people, are equipped with a big refrigerator and everything else you need to make your... I was feeling skeptical with this hotel due to mixed review however we did not make a wrong choice. This hotel is clean and neat. It looks new as well. It is near to a train station where you can hop on to Arashimaya easily. There is also a shin-omiya station but this line does not bring you to Kyoto... More
