This hotel is situated on the end of a busy shopping street in Kyoto. One has easy access to hundreds of restaurants and shopping avenues varying in taste and price. The rooms are moderately sized and not particularly large. The family room has more beds but less room otherwise. The standard rooms have less space to keep luggage. Location wise... More

The hotel is located close to Pontocho and no more than 15 mins walk from the Gion. The temples around NazenJi and the end of the Philosophers Walk are a short metro ride away from the nearby station (to Keage). So the location was really excellent.... The facilities were very basic and the room fairly small as you expect in... More

This hotel is getting a little dated now. It's nice but nothing special. Location is great but hotel could do with an update. Only one English channel on tv BBC which is not a big deal but it is nice to unwind to some English tv at the end of the night if I choose too but I didn't get... More

We stayed for five nights, perfect location with plenty of restaurants nearby and excellent shopping for miles, not to far to walk to the famous Geisha district. Free internet in the lobby, friendly and helpful staff. Teramachi street is excellent for bargain shopping. Hollys cafe just across the road in the arcade was our choice for breakfast and a good... This is a charming hotel in a perfect location providing great service. The beds are very firm, but comfortable. While the rooms are not fancy by Western standards they are comfortable and if you want a separate sitting area the admirable suite works well. My only negative comment is that to get to the bathroom you have to take a... More

Centrally located with great access to key temples and heritage sites. Worth catching a taxi there from the train station, but after that its easy to get around on foot. That said, we took a taxi to the Silver and Golden Pavilions and then walked back from there, in order to save our energy and feet. The hotel itself was... More

The Kyoto Royal Hotel and Spa is a nice hotel, good breakfast (western and traditional Japanese buffet) and is very convenient. Kyoto was very busy and this was about the only hotel we could find. Our room on the 8th floor was inward looking as about 40% of the rooms in the hotel are. It was spacious and clean if a little dated. The window opened for fresh air if required. Only having 4 coat hangers and 2 tea bags were... More
