Nice stay, tatami was really good. Good hojicha tea. Shower gives us cold or too hot water, so we didnt use the bath. Otherwise good stay at this japanese styled room. A bit noisy children crying. Check in before 22, but you can entry the room 24h with the lock code. Nice location, really close to Kyoto railway station.

1) the hotel , on Booking , recommands to warn if you arrive before the check in time, 3 PM, but in the hotel nobody was there ..before 3 PM, I tried to phone several times the day before, nobody answers at the phone number given by Seiki Hotel, nor to 2 z mails sent 1 day before. 2) much worse...when I finally could do the check in, I wasgiven the key of a room where only the towels had been changed, the sheets were used and the room dirty, with a collection of different kind of hair that I took in picture. I complained and the only guy on the spot proposed to do the cleaning and change sheets, which was done for the same evening. 3) I unfortunately , I booked 6 nights in this hotel and could not change, since it was super high season in Kyoto : in 6 days nobody came for the cleaning nor for change towels , sheets or take away the garbage ...!! They simply wait for you to go, notwithstanding you stay 1 or 10 nights on the spot! I discovered a plastic panel " House rules " at the reception , saying that , if you want to chanfe sheets and towels, you have to go to the nearby launderette and wash the first and only kit you have been supplied at the check in...umbelievable in a so called hotel , not paid at youth hostel price!!! Photo joint... Enough to say that is not an Hotel but a robbery, and I would not advise anybody to enter or reserve this place ..for me, never ever again...but I' ll go back to kyoto instead .. 4) the WiFi is totally inexistant, very bad connection to Internet, when You have one...

Hotel Seiki is located only 5 mins from Kyoto station so transfer from Shinkansen or train is an easy task. This is a budget hotel and I chose this to experience a traditional Japanese Tatami room. The room like other average Japanese hotels is small so there really is no room for huge luggages. I got a good deal , as the price I paid is comparable to a hostel. But I get to have my private bathroom . They also set up a tea table when not using our Tatami mattress so it’s a nice touch. I would not recommend this to tall travellers , I myself am short but still found moving around the bathroom a challenge and I found myself bumping my knees in all sorts of places 😂 Prior to arriving , the hotel management sent a very detailed instructions on what to do if I get in early as their check in is strictly at 2 pm and reception is unmanned from 11pm to 2 pm the next day. I rated it a three (average ) as I have severe allergies and found myself with a sinus headache, the next day which means ventilation is poor or vents are not cleaned properly. They also only clean rooms and change sheets every two days. As I regularly stay at hotels for work purposes , I have found that my sinus attacks are an indication on how well the hotel maintain vents, carpets, curtains etc. As a solution I wore a mask to help prevent attacks. I can’t really complain, I get what I pay for.

The hotel is only 5 minutes pleasant walk from the Main station (both train and metro). The check in is quick (please note there is a city tax extra, to be paid in cash only). The room is very cozy, but clean, modern and efficient. Our unit is even equiped with a washing machine (with detergent), which is definitely a plus. Another plus is the inclusion of a cellphone in the room for our use. Everything did go very well during our stay, thank you.

If you are tired of staying at the western style hotels and looking for a traditional Japanese style place to stay, this would be a good option for you - nice, cozy hotel just 7 minutes walk from Kyoto Station at very reasonable price. With Family Mart just opposite the street so all your daily needs are just min away.

This hotel is at a good location, near Kyoto station where lots of eateries/shopping are available. It is very clean and well maintained. We stayed on the top floor for 4 persons which we need to take 1 flight of stairs after the lift. The unit consists of a common toilet and 2 separate rooms. There is a washing machine with washing detergent. Size of the room is very small. For 4 persons, you almost need to struggle with the sleeping mattress and the luggage. Hotel provides luggage storage for early arrival and in case you need to leave luggage after departure.

When I saw the room at first I didn't love it as I had been staying in much bigger places in Japan, but after my first night I loved it. The staff were extremely helpful and kind and their English was great, they were able to have conversations about many topics including the world cup. The staff were able to call restaurants and inquire about allergies and make reservations. The room even though it was small was comfortable and fairly quite (although this would depend on who you're near). The futons were comfortable for someone who has never slept on one, although they took some getting used to. There's a washing machine and dryer on the roof, which is great and has a lovely view. The motel seemed to be well built as I was there during an earthquake and there appeared to be no damage. The location is great as it is located near Kyoto station and Aeon mall, there is also a family mart across the road. The bathroom may be a problem to those with mobility issues as it is small and has a large step to get into plus stepping into the bath to shower. Also the elevator doesn't go to the top floor and you are required to use stairs, if you have a problem with stairs I would recommend a lower floor (1-4). Overall it's a clean and nice hotel at a reasonable price with friendly staff.

Location was close enough to Kyoto Station and several malls. We actually ate breakfast and dinner at Kyoto Station, before our daily adventures and on the way back to the hotel twice for dinner. Hotel Seiki is EVERYTHING I could have asked for. Clean, friendly staff, free umbrellas to use on our one rainy day, COMFY futons, good quality sheets, washer, shampoo, conditioner, body soap and laundry detergent. One caveat, if you are on the top floor, you will need to walk up one flight of stairs. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I went to Don Quijote one night (family said no way) and walked back alone. Safe, convenient, and overall a fabulous experience. I loved sinking into my futon nightly, after 10+ miles of walking a day. Great sleep and quiet.
