John and Cathy are the owners. She bakes and makes the most wonderful deserts and breakfast I have had in a b&b or hotel. John plays host and what a great one he is! Perfectly helpful and charming without being intrusive. The beds and linens are so cozy . The buildings and gardens are so pretty. The tasteful interiors are... More

A memorable fall trip brought me to this historic charming farmhouse just outside of the best art town on the west coast. Visit for a long weekend and you can stay in a dream house on the rolling hills outside of Ashland and take in a few world-class plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Mike takes the time to show... More

It's been awhile since I was at the Mt. House, but things are just as good here as before. I stayed in the pristine white Russell Room, looking out over brilliant fall leaves. The place was peaceful this time of year, and as beautiful as ever. I loved sitting outside on the lawn in the sunshine for quiet conversation, and... More

From the warm welcome to the exquisited linens to the scrumptious meals and delightful company we were treated like treasured family. Truly a special place with wonderful people! Loved hiking in the orchard and nibbling on fresh berries in the gardens. 6"6' husband loved the HUGE claw foot tub in the Gibbs room. So private for a B&B! We will... More

This may be the best B&B I have ever stayed in (in my opinion better than Green Gables in Pacific Grove CA, Gaige House in Sonoma CA, or the Gingerbread Mansion in Ferndale CA for example) . We stayed in the Barron Room for two nights. It was huge, with a very large separate bath area. On the way home... More

This is the best b&b I've ever stayed in. I love everything about it; location, rooms, bedding, decor, garden, inn keepers and food! John and Cathy are friendly without being invasive. We ate a 2 course healthy delicious breakfast every day (most collected or harvested there) and homemade awesome desserts and tea in the afternoon. Every room has multiple windows... More

This is a first-rate B & B in a lovely, peaceful country side setting. The host, John, was very welcoming and told us about the interesting history of the property, and made several great dining recommendations. The decor and furnishings were nicely done and not visually "busy", but restful. The queen bed in the Russell Room was very comfortable (we... More

While staying in town has the ease of walking to dine or theater, Ashland Mountain House is an easy drive that removes you from all that bustle. Beautiful grounds, wide, comfortable verandas with great views, a wonderful library and sumptuous breakfasts all make it a wonderful retreat between plays. We stayed in the brick cottage, with its own entrance and... More

We've stayed in Ashland at hotels, motels and B&Bs. This one is the best. It is small (4 guest rooms) and beautiful, with the typical older building of a B&B without the mustiness. The grounds are fabulous, gorgeous, with nice easy hikes adjacent. The breakfasts are wonderful, and John and Kathy go out of their way to assure guest comfort,... More

“But no perfection is so absolute," William Shakespeare wrote, "That some impurity doth not pollute.” Alas, the Bard never stayed at Ashland Mountain House six miles east of the town that now celebrates his work with one of America's great Shakespeare festivals. I feel like the Olympic skating of gymnastics judge who is about to give out the first "10"... More
