I was visiting Austin for partying with a friend. It is cheap, and so nice. We where drinking beer outside in the sunset, in the pier on the lake. It was relaxing. As a negative point, it is necessary to take car or a cab to go to 6th st. But as it is usual in HI Hostels, we met... More

Ok, I expected this hostel to be square just like every other NÍ hostel, but this one seems maliciously so, and badly run. For example, they wake you up and get you out of bed at 10:30 every morning (apparently to clean the room, but I never saw anyone cleaning once, ever, or evidence of it) which also not only... More

We stayed for a week and felt very at home. The hostel sells half price bus passes and the bus stop is only a block away. Staff are extremely helpful and there are events happening on most nights for those who want to participate. Free wifi and computers were a welcome addition. I would love to come back here!

Everything is more than average. All staff is kind but the staff whose name is Larse(Larph..?) is the best. The hostel is very close to lake so I like it. But near hostel looks dangerous because there is very few people around hostel.

Staff is good, clean rooms and facilities. You have to take a bus to go downtown or Barton springs, or University of Texas. Laundry service is good. Compared to other hotels which are faraway is cheap.

The location is average. You need to take a bus to get to the Downtown, though you don't need a lot of time for this. The hostel is comfortable, but the shower was quite old and not very clean. There is a kitchen which you can use to make your own food and free pancakes in the morning. There are... More

The hostel itself was good - free parking, good size communal area, cheap laundry, nice (private) rooms and plenty of bathrooms/ kitchens. The location was fine - it is close to buses to main town, but it's definitely not walkable. This hostel definitely benefits by the lack of backpacker competition in town. We booked by telephone in advance and were... More

Some are complaining about the location. Look, there are multiple bus stops to use, not just one. You can get online with Austin Metro and plan your route. It is so simple. $1 each way, how good is that ? $1 bus from the air port. If you stay for a week, they have week long bus passes at half... More

This hostel is passable, but by no means great at all. Problem is, as far as I could find this is the only hostel in the college town that Austin, so there is not much choice. - One thing that I have never seen in any hostel is the "blackout time" between about 10am and 2pm. In this period, you... More
