Coming from the North Pantanal which seemed to be wilder, we were a bit disappointed here (especially after the amazing review in the lonely planet guide). The problem we have with this place is that for the price you pay (the same that you would pay in luxury private reserve in South Africa), they do not seem to understand that... More

I dreamed of visiting Caiman Lodge in the Pantanal of Brazil. It was a dream come dream come true. The lodges are well appointed with most ammenitiies, great for wildlife and nature lovers. Awesome birding. They do a great job on all fronts, this area is like being on safari in Africa but with South American birds and animals. All... More

If you are a birder you have to stay in this area, and the guides at this hotel are wonderful. I am not a birder but you become one! Also armadillos, anteaters, monkeys, caimans, etc. Food is Very good, staff very helpful and friendly, accomodations very comfortable for where you are, private bathrooms, showers, air con, small pool was refreshing... A truly memorable experience. If you want to get away from it all AND enjoy wildlife - particularly birds - at its best then this "hotel" , 36 kilometers down a dirt road from the nearest town is the place to be. We stayed in the Baiazinho Lodge (a further 9 km from the main hotel) which literally sits on... More

My boyfriend and I chose the 5 days 4 nights package at the Caiman Lodge Sept. 2007 and had a very relaxing time. We were probably there a day too long. We booked our stay through Opendoor Tours that's based in Campo Grande. The price they offered was slightly better than booking through Caiman directly because they provide their own... More

This eco-hotel came highly recommended by both my Brazilian travel agent and my Lonely Planet guidebook, with the description of the "most luxurious lodging in the Pantanal". The perspective is important, as this is probably luxury by Pantanal standards, but if you're expecting the Ritz, you'll be disappointed. However, if you're expecting a wonderful, comfortable, friendly, wildlife-filled adventure, this is... More
