Leblon is fabulous - this hostel is in a great location near the best restaurants. We stayed in Annex 1 and it was fine, clean, basic, comfortable room. We stayed one night in the dorm also - it was hot. Staff very helpful and the breakfast was good.

We spent 4 nights here to go to a wedding and sightseeing before travelling around the country. Rio is seriously overpriced, so hostels cost what you would pay for a hotel. It's a really good hostel if you are travelling with friends, the amenities are excellent, everything is new, but there are not a lot of people trying to make friendship, or going out, so if you go by yourself, as I did, you may not find company to go out.
