It has become very difficult and also very expensive to get an hotel in Rio. Nothing else (below 500 Euros) was available in Ipanema/Leblon where I had to stay so I took this one on Booking.com for about 90 Euros. The only positives: location (central Ipanema, close to the beach and the shops and offices of the neighborhood), it's clean,... More

I stayed here for one month a few years ago and the location is great and the barman JOSE very helpful and also cooks the best steak in RIO. On a recent return visit it has gone downhill a bit, there used to be Bossa Nova music and international television in the bar/restaurant area and an internet cafe-all have been done... More

Stayed there for about 10 days. It was an accidental stay since the first hotel we booked online claimed they didn't receive our reservation, so we were referred here. Rooms are small, old and the hallways are tight, not to mention the elevator. The staff are helpful and can speak English well. Loved the breakfast outdoor nooks they have with... More

When we booked this we were concerned because there a few bad reviews. After staying there, I feel obligated to give it a great review. Compared to, say, Kansas, It is a bit pricey, but this is because you're staying in the nicest and safest spot in Rio. For the price, we were completely happy, and our local Brazilian friends... A group of friends booked this hotel based purely on its great location in Ipanema. It's near Posto 9 and that's about all the good I can say for it. The mind boggles how this can be rated a 3*, it is barely better than a hostel with a shiny reception. The rooms are spartan and delapidated, but clean, however... More

Spent a couple of nights at this property since I couldn't find any better deal in a better location. Service at front desk is pretty good, breakfast is simple but ok. Rooms are clean and are enough, if all you pretend is to take a quick shower and sleep. Lifts are to small and slow and in-room A/C is noisy.... More

Fell over the hotel in one of the best locations in Ipanema - thought the price was a little steep especailly with the 5% extra tax added on top which is apparently required to pay the government (since learnt this does not exist and it is really a tourist tax) but decided to stay anyway. The hotel turned off the... More

This is a clunky hotel and you would not want to spend your honeymoon here. There are lots of little annoyances; the unintentional shabby chic, the air conditioning on "full blast", sounds like the engine room of a submarine, but if you turn it down, it is possible to sleep OK. The rooms are dilapidated, but the really important stuff,... More

Two years ago it wasn't so bad. Staff were friendly and engaging. They have all moved on. Now it appears the elusive owner of the hotel has loaded the place up with swarthy young men wearing ill-fitting suits who last only a short while before being replaced with others of similar ilk. The rooms are still dingy and close, and... More

I have stayed here at least 2 times before and have found it a reasonable hotel at average price at great location. This time, however, after 3 years, I came to find the hotel has been completely neglected by its owner and has turned into a very pricey slum! The old and experienced staff has been replaced by very young... More
